Chance the Rapper Returns With Brand New Track ‘Yah Know’

Chance himself teams up with painter and textile designer Mia Lee, whose art under the same name is presented throughout a music video for the new track.

AceShowbizChance the Rapper is back with a new offering. On Friday, November 18, the Chicago-born artist released a brand new track called “Yah Know” ft. Ghanaian singer/songwriter King Promise along with its official music video.

On the track, the 29-year-old spits, “You’ll know when we get there, you’ll know when we go/ Gun to your back likе Harriet/ If you can’t shoot, can’t carry it, if you’re too fake, can’t fеrry it/ Come carry me home sweet chariot, everybody wanna come drive the boat but nobody wanna come paddleboat.” He adds, “If we realize we was all compatible, we could combine the money/ Maybe come buy the boat, sometimes, I’m my boss, sometimes, free the man, in your heart.”

For the self-directed clip, Chance teamed up with painter and textile designer Mia Lee, whose art under the same name is presented throughout the video. Elated by the collaboration, the emcee gushed on Twitter, “The exhibition was a success!”

“Big thank you to the Museum of Contemporary Art and Mia Lee for giving me one of the best nights of my life,” the Grammy-winning rapper added. “I had planned to drop some new art tonight but Ima wait a lil while so you can get the message clearly Yah Know!”

According to MOCA, ” ‘Yah Know’ is a representation of generations of storytelling, particularly within Black families.” It added, “It’s the recalling of personal stories about the journey one had to take told by a grandparent or parent in a first or third-person perspective. This scene shows the characters named ‘the lady’ and ‘the gentleman’ in movement.”

“The explosion in the background represents having to adapt and move forward because of the circumstances that tend to throw one off course,” the description further read. “The desolate landscape is for the viewer to fill with their own scene of relatable experiences or the ones they were told in their family. These are the details of the narratives that show vulnerability and honesty while connecting experiences from one generation to another.”

As for Chance’s last full-length project, it’s “The Big Day”, which was dropped in 2019. The 22-track set features guest appearances from John Legend, DaBaby, Ari Lennox, Megan Thee Stallion, Gucci Mane, Lil Durk and Nicki Minaj among others.
