Former vocalist and lead guitarist for Earth, Wind & Fire, Sheldon Reynolds, has died at the age of 63.
The musician's passing was confirmed by his former bandmate Philp Bailey with a touching tribute on Facebook.
He wrote: "This news of Sheldon Reynold's transition is very sad for all of us who knew and worked with him.
"Sheldon vocally had Reese down. That's what Maurice said when he hires Sheldon to share vocals and play guitar.
"Sheldon was an excellent addition to the band, a great writer and producer, and a genuinely kind and loving person. He will be missed."
But Earth, Wind & Fire wasn't the only band the hitmaker was part of throughout his musical career, with loyal fans remembering he was also in the group Sun and The Commodores.
He was the lead guitarist for The Commodores from 1983 alongside bandmates William 'WAK' King, Walter Orange, James Dean 'J.D' Nicholas, Milan Williams and Skyler Jett.
He joined the group after Lionel Richie's departure to begin his solo career and remained with the group for four years until his departure in 1987.
It was after he left the band that he joined Earth, Wind & Fire as a lead guitarist and co-vocalist.
During his time in the group, the band earned a Grammy Award nomination for the song Sunday Morning.
He was also reportedly inducted into the NAACP Image Award Hall of Fame as a member of the band.
Sheldon is said to have worked with numerous other artists over the course of his career in the music industry including Maurice White, Smokey Robinson and the chart-topping band Chicago.
Fans soon swarmed to social media to share their touching tributes and condolences to the family of the late singer online.
One user penned: "RIP Sheldon Reynolds, the talented guitarist who was a key member of the funk and soul bands the Commodores and Earth, Wind & Fire."
Another agreed: "RIP Sheldon Reynolds of the Commodores and Earth, Wind & Fire!!"
A third echoed: "Sheldon Reynolds, Lead Guitarist & Vocalist with the Funk group Earth, Wind & Fire (RIP) you will be truly missed [three prayer hands emojis, three heart emojis]."
