Girls Aloud tipped to headline Glastonbury 2024 as they reunite after 11 years

Girls Aloud have emerged as rumoured headliners for Glastonbury 2024, sending fans into a frenzy following their highly-anticipated reunion.

The rumours come in the wake of reports that this iconic girl group is gearing up to release a new single, marking a triumphant return to the music scene after an 11-year hiatus. Bookmakers are now giving higher odds on the foursome gracing the Glastonbury stage next year.

According to Ladbrokes, the chances of Girls Aloud headlining the Worthy Farm stage stand at 3/1. Alex Apati from Ladbroke Live shared insights into the predictions for Glastonbury 2024's headliner, saying: "Girls Aloud threw the pop world into complete meltdown this morning with the announcement of a new single, and given the reception they've had, we wouldn't be surprised to see them take center stage at Glastonbury next year."

He also hinted at the possibility of a tour for Cheryl and the group in the coming months. While speculation about the Glastonbury lineup for 2024 has been rife, with names like Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Madonna making the rounds in leaks, festival organizer Emily Eavis dismissed these claims as false.

Eavis did confirm that the Sunday afternoon Legends performer is already booked, dropping a hint that it could be a female musician, but remained tight-lipped about further details. The resurgence of Girls Aloud, comprised of Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberly Walsh, and Nicola Roberts, gained momentum as they were spotted heading to a North London music studio.

The quartet arrived separately, each donning caps and shades to maintain a low profile. Girls Aloud originally burst onto the scene in 2002 on ITV's Pop Stars: The Rivals, quickly becoming a sensation with 20 top-ten singles and five BRIT award nominations.

However, they disbanded in 2013 amidst rumors of internal conflicts. Now, much to the delight of fans, Girls Aloud is making a triumphant comeback with plans for a full album of music and a "massive" UK tour in 2024.

A music source revealed, "This has been one of the best-kept secrets in pop, but it's actually happening now. The girls really came back together as friends to rally around when Sarah died, and it repaired some of the old rifts and put things into perspective. Suddenly the reunion, which had seemed totally impossible for so long, just felt like a totally natural thing to do—in Sarah's honor."
