Hottest Met Gala 2019 looks – sheer dresses, feathers and plunging necklines

The Met Gala returns tonight, September 13, 2021, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

Designers, models and stars of music, stage and screen will attend the event in high-fashion outfits, which are usually centred around a theme, with the theme for 2021 being 'American Fashion'.

Attendees will celebrate and fundraise at a new exhibit at the Costume Institute based at the Metropolitan Museum of Art during the event.

Usually taking place in May of each year, last year's Met Gala was postponed to this September due to the pandemic.

Here we look back on some of the sexiest outfits from the Met Gala in 2019.

Lady Gaga

Bad Romance singer and A Star is Born actress Lady Gaga is well-known for her high-fashion looks both in real life and in her music videos and live performances.

At the 2019 Met Gala, she arrived on the red carpet wearing a flowing pink Brandon Maxwell gown.

The gown was later removed to reveal a second Brandon Maxwell outfit, featuring a black lingerie set, fishnet tights and black platform high heeled shoes, styled with jewellery from Tiffany and Co.

Celine Dion

Music legend Celine Dion looked stunning as she arrived at the 2019 Met Gala.

The My heart will go on and Think Twice singer wore a shimmering Oscar de la Renta gown, with long tassles, matched with custom Chloe Gosselin shoes.

An extra touch of high-fashion glamour was added with a Noel Stewart headpiece, teamed with Fred Leighton jewellery.

Kylie and Kendall Jenner

Keeping up with the Kardashians stars Kylie and Kendall Jenner are known for being fashion icons, with both arriving a the 2019 Met Gala in beautiful gowns.

Kylie wore a floor length sheer dress with purple embroidered detail, nude bodysuit underneath and matching purple feathered sleeves.

The Atelier Versace gown was accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Kendall wore a floor length Versace dress with orange feathered details, matched with jewellery from Tiffany and Co.

Stella Maxwell

Model Stella Maxwell looked dazzling as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Met Gala in 2019.

Maxwell wore a sheer black floor length gown, which was from the designer Moschino by Jeremy Scott, with long sleeves and embroidered silver star details.

In addition to a star print headdress, she matched the gown with Casadei shoes and jewellery by David Yurman.

Gabrielle Union

Bring it on and 10 things I hate about you actress Gabrielle Union looked beautiful as she arrived at the 2019 Met Gala in New York.

The custom Dundas floor length sheer gown featured a plungin neckline, silver embroidered detail and matching jacket, teamed with gloves and black high heeled shoes.

Her Met Gala outfit was accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Naomi Campbell

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has walked runways across the world and attended many Met Galas at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in many beautiful high fashion outfits.

For the 2019 Met Gala, Campbell wore a beautiful Valentino floor length pink gown with plunging neckline, with pink feather train, pink lace tights and matching high heeled shoes.

Her flawless outfit was accessorised with Bulgari jewellery.

Bella Hadid

Another supermodel known for her high-fashion looks both on the runway and off the runway is Bella Hadid.

At the 2019 Met Gala, Bella Hadid wore a black floor length gown from designer Moschino by Jeremy Scott, who posed with the supermodel in a matching outfit at the event.

The dress featured pearl details on the neckline and gem details on the sleeves, with finishing touches added by Lorraine Schwartz jewellery.

Kate Moss and Rita Ora

Supermodel Kate Moss and singer Rita Ora both wore beautiful floor length gowns with plunging necklines at the 2019 Met Gala.

Singer Ciara looked stunning as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2019 Met Gala in New York.

Her beautiful Dundas dress included a thigh-high split, green embroidered details and a train of green feathers, which was teamed with matching sleeves and high heeled green shoes.
