Katie Prices brutal downfall from £45m to bankruptcy as she faces jail time

Media personality Katie Price is due to be sentenced when she appears in court today (June 24) after admitting to breaching a restraining order during a four-lettered texting tirade.

From her explosion into the limelight as a Sun Page 3 model to bankruptcy and regular driving bans, what exactly has brought the reality television star to the brink of a possible spell behind bars?

The 44-year-old became a public figure when she was still a teenager in the mid-1990s thanks to her girl-next-door topless and skimpy modelling photos, using the moniker Jordan.

Her pictures were regularly plastered over publications like the Daily Star, FHM, the British edition of Playboy, Nuts, Maxim, Loaded, Vogue and Esquire.

She even had a short-lived stint in politics when she ran as an independent candidate for MP during the 2001 UK general election – but got only 700 votes.

A regular stream of TV shows and appearances has kept the mum-of-five in the public consciousness ever since her breakthrough and she even started an OnlyFans account as a way of trying to keep her income stream going.

But the media personality is in the news for a different reason at the moment as she prepares to face a crown court judge – and she's been warned she could be jailed after she admitted breaching a restraining order against her ex-husband's fiancee.

Why is Katie Price famous?

Born in Brighton in 1978, Price made a name for herself with her ever-increasing boobs and was a tabloid regular in the late 90s and noughties.

The public got to know her more intimately though when she appeared in ITV’s I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004.

That brought about her decision to ditch her Jordan brand and go back to the original name she started her modelling career under.

While on I’m A Celebrity, Price met her first husband, pop sensation Peter Andre, which led to the fly-on-the-wall Katie & Peter franchise.

Even after their split in 2009, she sustained her TV presence with shows such as What Katie Did Next, Signed By Katie Price and My Crazy Life.

She won Celebrity Big Brother in 2015, became a regular panellist on Loose Women between 2015 and 2018, and took part in Celebrity MasterChef in 2021.

Ventures outside of telly saw her set up her own perfume called Stunning and in 2008 announced the start of her range of clothing named KP Equestrian, in a nod to her love of horses.

What has happened to Katie Price?

Since her break-up with Mysterious Girl singer Andre, Price has gone on to get married and divorced twice more – to Alex Reid and stripper Kieran Hayler respectively – and has had a string of partners, including current fiance Carl Woods.

Having once been valued at £45million, her net worth has reportedly sunk to below £1million, with the celebrity engulfed by money issues.

She was announced bankrupt in 2019 and is currently waiting for a hearing about the £3.2million she reportedly still owes creditors.

She has faced a number of speeding and driving charges since 2003, and is currently serving a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after her BMW car flipped on a country road having got behind the wheel under the influence, without insurance and while under a driving ban.

Crawley Magistrates Court, when handing down the sentence, also banned her from driving for another two years.

Today she will find out if she faces time behind bars, with a sentence potentially starting at two years following an expletive-ridden message to her ex Kieran about his new partner Michelle Penticost, who she is barred from contacting.

How did Katie Price lose her money?

Legal costs, loss of TV opportunities and expensive habits have all hurt the celeb’s bank balance.

Some of Price's most lucrative TV deals that earned her serious cash have fallen away over the years, while it is thought her modelling opportunities came to an end in 2018.

Her range of jewellery and other beauty products no longer bring in the same income they once did, with clothing line House of KP going quiet in 2019.
