One Direction are waiting until they look as good as Take That did in their 30s before getting the band back together.
Niall Horan has revealed they are using Gary Barlow and co’s 2006 reunion as template for their own comeback.
Niall said: “When they came back they looked better than they ever did. If we all look that good, I’ll take it.”
Barlow was 33 when Take That returned with Patience and it’s the quality of TT’s songs that One Direction would like to replicate.
Niall continued : “To come back as great as they did – you know, it didn’t look forced.

“I would hate for people to be like, ‘Here they are coming for the money – because they’ve spent it all’.
“If and when we come back, it would be to bring the joy back to people who had missed us and the fact that we could break the internet with that selfie! I wanna do it when everyone is f***ing ready.”
Niall reckons the only thing bigger than 1D getting back together is Friends reunion.
Liam Payne spills on One Direction secret which never aired on X Factor
He explained: “When I saw that Instagram that Jennifer Aniston posted with the cast of Friends, it kind of reminded of 1D, because they’re the only ones that get it.
"Maybe that’s a strange analogy, but there are only five people who understand how it felt to be under that spotlight for so long and we actually had a very small core team around us. So we’re basically brothers for life.”
Niall is focusing on second solo LP Heartbreak Weather and was keen to write more upbeat songs. He told the Line Of Best Fit:
“I kind of became known for a while as the guy with the sad songs and people were kind of expecting me to come out with another sad one. I wanted to change things up.”
Out now are Niall’s second Spotify Singles recordings – No Judgement and a cover of Taylor Swift’s Lover.
