A Place in the Sun guest starts crying as she views ‘lovely’ £295,000 villa

Scarlette Douglas was in Spain on A Place in the Sun helping Maria find a perfect retirement haven for herself and her cocker spaniel.

In Monday's episode of the Channel 4 show (May 17) Maria was joined by her best friend Karen who planned to stay over frequently if she bought any of the villas around the stunning lake and town of Viñuela in Málaga.

Maria had a budget of £250,000 and was hoping to find a new home with three bedrooms, a sunny swimming pool, and space to sunbathe and enjoy the views.

Scarlette found five properties she thought could tick all her boxes, but Maria was not as easy to impress as she'd hoped.

One of the properties was branded "super rustic" and too old-fashioned, while another was slammed as "really disappointing" because there wasn't space for a sun lounger next to the pool.

Finally, Scarlette hit the jackpot with property number five and Maria even started welling up in tears when she took a look around the living room.

Covering up her mouth she said: "Sorry, sorry."

"Are you ok? What are you thinking," asked Scarlette, while Karen put her hand on Maria's back to comfort her.

Scarlette told her: "It's ok just take a minute. I know this a huge move for you, it's a big step."

Maria then wiped away the tears from her eyes and said in a shaky voice: "It's just so lovely."

The villa was on the market for £295,000 and had three bedrooms, a swimming pool, and a low-maintenance garden with ornamental plants and stones.

Mara decided to make a "cheeky" offer of £250,000 but admitted she would go higher it meant getting her dream home.

Scarlette rang the agent and told her it was a no.

Maria then raised the offer to £260,000 and said she "felt sick".

This time, Scarlette told Maria that the offer was accepted and she was overjoyed.
