BBC Breakfast hijacked as passer-by shouts ‘scrap the licence fee’
BBC Breakfast: Live broadcast gatecrashed by man in Manchester
Sally Nugent was forced to “move along” a BBC Breakfast interview after a stranger interrupted a live broadcast to yell “Slash the TV licence fee you greedy-” before being cut off.
Peter Ruddick joined Sally and co-host Jon Kay to talk about the HS2 from Manchester, which is reportedly set to be scrapped.
However, seconds into the chat, which was taking place outside Manchester Piccadilly Station, a passer-by interrupted the segment.
“Passengers here are fairly used to uncertainty these days,” Peter began.
He continued: “There has been in recent days a palpable sense of a lack of surprise around these reports.

“There are a few people who would welcome the cancellation of HS2 – there are concerns about the costs, about delays to the project and questions about the reported benefits of this scheme.
“It does now seem increasingly likely-“
At that point, a passerby shoved into view and shouted: “Slash the TV licence fee you greedy…”
He words were drowned out as the audio was silenced and cameras quickly returned to Sally in the studio.
