BBC Strictly star Amy Dowden says she feels stuck in limbo in new health update
Amy Dowden has given fans an update on her health, as she shares that she feels like she's in 'limbo'.
The Strictly Come Dancing pro, 33, recently finished her chemotherapy treatment, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in April.
Following this, Amy was set to return to Strictly for the Blackpool special last Saturday but was unable to do so after fracturing her foot.
Sharing her heartbreak, Amy shared a video to Instagram of herself ringing the 'cancer bell' following the completion of her chemo. Reflecting on the last couple of weeks, she said: "Can't believe this was a whole two weeks ago.
"I'm off to the unit again today for my monthly injection. But it does feel strange as when you're in chemo cycles there's such a routine and at the minute, I feel a little bit in limbo."
"But I'm still so proud of this moment," Amy added.
Earlier this week, Amy revealed she was devastated to miss out on Blackpool as she explained why she wouldn't be able to make it to the iconic show venue.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Amy explained: "Not the week I was hoping for since finishing chemo. Port out but unfortunately gained a boot for a fractured foot.
"Absolutely gutted and heartbroken as this means the plans for me to dance in the Strictly Ballroom this year are no longer possible. This is what has kept me going the past few months. 2023 is certainly not my year, roll on 2024 I say," she said.
After Amy shared the news, her Strictly family showed their support. Former professional and It Takes Two host Janette Manrara said: "Oh no! Well in that case 2024 could not be coming sooner." Dianne Buswell added: "Next year is yours!!!"
Amanda Abbington, who left the 2023 series earlier this month, wrote: "Sending you the most love!!! Rest up beautiful girl."
And Sara Davies, a fellow former contestant, penned: "Oh my life missus! I can’t believe it! So sorry but just think how special that moment will be when it comes round! Will be worth the wait!
Joanne Clifton commented: "Oh Amy I’m sending so much love!" and Claudia Winkleman shared a string of heart emojis.
