Britain’s Got Talent Christmas special postponed after crew members contract coronavirus

Fans of ITV talent contest Britain’s Got Talent saw Jon Courtenay crowned the winner of the series on Saturday night, becoming the first Golden Buzzer act ever to go on to win the show. However, with filming set to take place on a Christmas special, it was announced today production has had to be halted for the programme after three member of the production team has reportedly received a positive coronavirus test result. 

The show was due to film today but after three member of the BGT team received a positive test result, they have had to halt proceedings.  

“As a result of a positive Covid-19 result received yesterday we have implemented our protocols and a number of crew members are self-isolating at home.

“As a result, we are unable to continue filming our BGT Christmas Special today and have taken the decision to postpone. 

“The safety of all those involved in the show is our number one priority and we follow extensive Covid-19 related procedures to adhere to all government guidelines,” an ITV spokesperson told Deadline. 

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for ITV and Britain’s Got Talent for comment on the reports.
