It’s been well over a month since we last paid a visit to Casualty, but our favourite emergency department is open for business again this week and it’s business as usual for the ED staff.
In case you need a quick refresher on what was happening when the last episode aired back in early October, Marty (Shaheen Jafargholi) and Adi (Raj Bajaj) broke up after it became clear that Adi was far more focused on having a baby than he was on his relationship with Marty.
When Robyn (Amanda Henderson) almost died due to side effects of the IVF, Adi’s concern was all about whether she would still be willing to be a surrogate. Marty couldn’t deal with his attitude, while Paul (Paul Popplewell) was so angry on Robyn’s behalf that he got into a hilarious fight with Adi.
But how is Marty coping after the break-up of his most serious relationship yet? And how are Robyn and Paul getting on?
Meanwhile Stevie (Elinor Lawless) found herself in trouble with both Dylan (William Beck) and Marcus (Adam Sina) when she clashed with former anaesthetist Jonty (Richard Harrington), who was admitted as a patient. It looked like she was heading for a huge comeuppance, so this week she’s on a mission to redeem herself.
She asks Dylan to nominate her for an opportunity that will enhance her career, but Dylan says he doesn’t think she has the necessary people skills. Of course Stevie then sets about trying to prove him wrong, and we’ve seen before that when Stevie tries to do ‘people skills’ the results are mixed, at best.
When she goes to treat a patient who’s collapsed outside the church where Paige (Shalisha James-Davis)’s choir was singing, it really puts her ‘people skills’ to the test as once again she clashes with Paige.
Speaking of Paige, we previously saw that her relationship with Rash (Neet Mohan) was under strain because of his attitude to her discovery that she had the BRCA gene. Rash thought she should immediately take any steps necessary to decrease her risk – including considering a mastectomy. Paige wanted time to think things through and pushed him away, feeling overwhelmed by his attitude.

This clash is set to continue – but will Rash continue to put pressure on her?
Elsewhere, Jan (Di Botcher) is sad when she hears about the death of an old friend.
