Coronation Street fans will recognise Big Garth star from iconic BBC sitcom
Eagle-eyed Coronation Street viewers may have spotted a familiar face during last night's episode (December 4) of the ITV soap.
Making a welcome return to the cobbles was rogue salesman and market trader, Big Garth. It marked the character's ninth appearance on the show, following a brief cameo in November and sporadic slots throughout 2019.
Whilst his role is far from a prominent one, the actor who plays him is a very familiar face from the world of British television. For Victor McGuire is well known for his portrayal of Jack Boswell in the classic BBC sitcom Bread, which ran from 1986 until 1991.

The 59-year old Liverpudlian has been part of the acting industry since 1983, and starred in six series of Carla Lane's comedy, whilst later appearing in every series of Goodnight Sweetheart as Ron Wheatcroft, alongside main protagonist Gary Sparrow – played by Nicholas Lyndhurst.
Actor Victor boasts an impressive CV have starred on both the stage and screen. Film credits include the likes of Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, whilst he has appeared in a number of West End productions, such as Chicago and Fiddler on the Roof.
An avid supporter of Everton in his home city, Victor's diversity has even seen him act in a TV advertisement for Haribo and a safety promotion for Highways England – a spoof of The Pet Shop Boys' Go West.
Returning to Corrie last month, dodgy dealer Garth arrived to help Bernie Winter shift stolen goods to raise cash towards the plight of her dying son, Paul. Unbeknown to the pair, however, an undercover cop was surveying their exploits, which led to Bernie's arrest.
In scenes last night, meanwhile, Garth threatened to phone the police himself as Bernie's daughter Gemma threw goods from the back of his van following a confrontation in Victoria Street. Gemma found herself in trouble with the last week after young Joseph collapsed at home and was taken to hospital where it was revealed that he had something poisonous in his system.

He was let out of hospital but chid protection officer wanted to chat to Gemma and said she needed to be interviewed. Caitlin questioned Gemma and suggested that she may have poisoned Joseph on purpose.
She later told the worried mum that she won't be able to see her children unsupervised or live under the same house as them until the investigation is completed.
