Carla (played by Alison King) is taking centre stage in a brand new storyline on Coronation Street as the ITV soap delves back into her most recent past. What her loved ones don’t realise at the moment is she is hiding a dark secret from them and as a result, two new characters are being introduced onto the cobbles to blackmail her as they believe they have a hold over her. Viewers have already seen the arrival of the mysterious Chelsey (Isobella Hubbard), with her partner-in-crime, Jordan, coming face-to-face with the stand-in landlady of the Rovers Return next week. However, fans are predicting a huge twist between the former and the beloved character, but could they really be related?
In terms of her family tree, Carla’s past has always been chequered as when she arrived on the cobbles in 2006, she was only an extended member of the Connor family as she was married to Paul Connor (Sean Gallagher).
Following his death and the arrival of Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley), it was revealed she had a much closer link to the clan than originally thought.
After a DNA test, it was explained the current landlord of the Rovers was, in fact, the beloved character’s father after he had an affair with her late mother, Sharon.
Through this, she discovered she had a sister in Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) and another brother in Aidan Connor (Shayne Ward).
The beloved character also has another half-brother in convinced murderer Rob Donavon (Marc Bayliss), but could the former factory boss actually be one of five?
- Coronation Street spoilers: Geoff Metcalfe forced to leave?
During Friday’s instalment of the Weatherfield-based soap, viewers watched as newcomer Chelsey tried to get intel on Carla.
The stranger quizzed barman Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) on who the stand-in landlady was and even took pictures of the beloved character.
By the end of the episode, the pair came face-to-face for the first time as the former factory boss was cornered in the toilets.
Unfortunately, the dramatic instalment ended on a cliffhanger with things set to pick up on Monday where the heated scene was left off before the weekend.
As the drama continues, it will be revealed Chelsey is a figure of the beloved character’s past from when she went missing during her mental health episode last year.
Jordan will then join his accomplice as he tells the stand-in Rovers landlady she owes him money from a batch of drugs she seemingly misplaced.
Carla will be forced to sit down with her boyfriend Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) and explain what happened during her absence from the cobbles.
Although it could be the mysterious woman was a fellow squatter the former factory boss owner lived with whilst sleeping rough, there might be another connection between the pair.

Carla’s got another sister
Coronation Street viewer
Taking to social media following Friday’s episode, viewers quickly commented on a surprise connection between the two women.
One curious fan posted on micro-blogging site Twitter: “The Scottish girl! Will be Carla’s half-sister or something!!”
Another added on the platform: “Carla’s got another sister,” to which a third commented: “I reckon that girl is Carla sister and the guys daughter making Jonny not Carla real dad #corrie #CoronationStreet,”(sic).
Is it possible the two women are half-sisters and will make the discovery as they become rivals over Carla’s current secret?
- Coronation Street spoilers: Ryan Connor betrays Alya Nazir in affair?
The backstory of the businesswoman explains her mother Sharon wasn’t the steadiest of characters as she used to sell drugs from her daughter’s pram.
It wasn’t until a few years later the mother-of-two gave birth to her half-brother Rob, but as her life was in turmoil, could she have had a third child?
This secret sibling might have been born before Carla’s arrival into the world but because the now-deceased character was addicted to substances, she might have thought it better to give up her first daughter.
Might Chelsey already know this and be hounding her half-sister because their mother decided to keep the former factory boss and not her?
Coronation Street continues Monday at 7:30pm on ITV.
