Craig David is part of the star-studded line-up on this week’s episode of The Jonathan Ross Show. During the instalment, Jonathan was eager to hear about Craig’s performance at Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June. The 41-year-old singer gushed over the late monarch and shared a hilarious anecdote about Prince George’s reaction to the blue sequinned tracksuit he wore on stage.

Craig was joined by The Masked Dancer and Dancing On Ice’s Oti Mabuse, comedian Katherine Ryan, Stranger Things star Matthew Modine and comedian Josh Jones for the ITV talk show.

Reflecting on performing at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration at Buckingham Palace, Craig said: “We got to go to Buckingham Palace after, [there was] a little soiree there.

“I was with my mum. To be with my mum walking into Buckingham Palace.

“She was gripping my hand and I could tell what she was going to say, she said, ‘We’re in the Queen’s house.'”

The Walking Away hitmaker shared what it was like to meet Prince William in the palace.

He explained: “Prince William walks over, he comes over, says, ‘My son George was going crazy for the blue sequinned outfit that you were wearing.’

“My mum was there, I said, ‘Lovely to meet you, love that George loved the outfit.’

“That moment for me, as a son [introducing my mum to Prince William], was probably the most incredible moment for me.”

Craig was even more thrilled when Kate Middleton came over to greet him during the special occasion.

He described meeting the Princess of Wales as “a very memorable moment”.

The Queen sadly died three months after her jubilee which marked her 70-year reign on the British throne.

“God rest her soul, performing for the Queen and what it represented,” Craig added.

Opening up about the Prince of Wales, Craig revealed: “He’s super down-to-earth.

“It’s almost like seeing him and seeing Harry and seeing the next generation coming through, I feel it’s giving a different tone to the Royal family.”

Craig also shared how he is an ambassador of the Prince’s Trust and spoke highly about King Charles III.

He said: “He is another one, he’s a stand-up guy, whenever I meet him, it’s not the pretence of what could come with being a royal.

“He’s very down-to-earth and he is very much an advocate for how we help the young children.”

Craig was living in Miami before returning to the UK but he admitted he had no real friends in America.

He explained: “I felt a million miles from home, so far from my friends and family. I’d come from such a humble background, being close to the music and culture that was happening in this country.”

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturdays at 10.10pm on ITV.
