Danger for Bobby as Cindy Beale returns from the dead for revenge in EastEnders

With news of Cindy Beale’s comeback still fresh, EastEnders fans are wasting little time in trying to work out the reason why, not to mention how, the former character is set to return from the dead.
Cindy (Michelle Collins), as longtime viewers will recall, was famously killed off, albeit off-screen, while in prison for trying to murder husband and father to her twins Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).
A lot has transpired in the near-three decades since she was last on our screens, which begs the question of why producers have decided to have her stage a comeback, let alone resurrect her from the dead.
The former barmaid has lost a lot in the time since she was last on the show, with son Steven (Aaron Sidwell), who was the product of a one-night-stand with Simon ‘Wicksy’ Wicks (Nick Berry), having tragically died, while daughter Lucy (Hetti Bywater) was murdered as part of a whodunit storyline.
The culprit, of course, was none other than Bobby Beale – Lucy’s younger brother and daughter of Ian’s third wife Laura. Jane (Laurie Brett), who looked after Bobby like he was her own son, desperately tried to cover up his crime, with Ian subsequently assisting her when the truth was revealed to him.
Bobby, however, was later exposed as his sister’s killer and was sent to prison, before returning to the Square a changed man, having learned from his past and striving to be a better person, with him having done everything in his power to try and make up for what he did.

Though third child Peter, Lucy’s twin, has managed to avoid the soap scythe of death thus far, he currently isn’t in the Square, having departed for a new life last year after disowning his family, and her other daughter – her namesake – is residing in Germany.
Cindy therefore, as it stands, has very little reason to set foot back in the Square, given that two of her kids are dead and the others aren’t in the area.
Her daughter’s killer, however, is still very much a mainstay of the show, with Bobby having forged a life for himself in the wake of his crime, so could Cindy’s motive in returning, essentially from the dead, be to avenge her daughter?
Could Bobby’s past mistake return to haunt him once more?
Cindy, as far as we’re aware, is currently with Ian, who is also set to return as part of her comeback storyline.
Ian, despite initially struggling to come to terms with Bobby’s actions, has since managed to forgive his son, with the two forging a decent relationship in the years that have passed, though it was somewhat turbulent prior to Ian’s departure!
Will the soap legend be able to right his wrongs and keep Cindy from targeting Bobby upon her return?
If history has taught us anything it’s that Cindy could harbour a grudge like the best of them, so we imagine there will be a showdown of some sort when she makes her grand return!
