EastEnders copper Callum Highway (Tony Clay) is riddled with guilt in the wake of colleague Fitzy’s (Sam Buchanan) stabbing ordeal.
The policeman was desperate to prove himself to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) last night, after the hard-man questioned if he was any good at his job.
Callum, hellbent on tracking down Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace) mugger, decided to return to the scene of the crime one more time, much to the dismay of Fitzy, who was hoping to head off early in order to propose to girlfriend Vicky.
The crime-fighting duo set their sights on the mugger, who hightailed it out of there when he realised he’d been spotted.
Callum and Fitzy gave chase, but the criminal approached from behind and stabbed Fitzy in shocking scenes, before pointing the knife at Callum.
What happens next remains to be seen, but EastEnders has given viewers a little taster of tonight’s double-bill, with a preview clip posted on the soap’s social media accounts.

Callum, hands covered in blood, can’t help but feel guilty for what transpired.
DCI Arthurs informs him that none of this is his fault, and reminds him that despite what he thinks, he is a ‘good copper.’
Callum, however, disagrees.
‘If he don’t make it then this is on me,’ he exclaimed.
The upset policeman added: ‘I should be used to this by now. I’ve been here before in the army, in the pub over the road. With so many other people’s blood on my hands, so many times.
‘People I’ve loved. People I do love. [It] Should be easier by now, so why ain’t it?’
EastEnders continues with a double-bill tonight from 7:25pm on BBC One.
