EastEnders character returns after Mick disappearance and drops major bombshell

EastEnders was full of drama on Thursday as Linda Carter returned to Albert Square after Mick Carter's disappearance.

Only recently, Mick appeared to be "killed off" over the festive episodes as he bowed out of the soap after nine years.

Mick tried to save his ex-wife Linda, who he had just reunited with, after she and Janine Butcher drove off a cliff and into the English Channel, where he disappeared at sea.

Since the incident, Linda and Shirley Carter decided to leave as they struggled to deal with Mick's disappearance and the "bad memories" in Walford.

And during Thursday's episode, Alfie Moon decided to throw a summer party in The Vic to banish the January blues and get the tills ringing.

However, when Sharon Watts heard about the pub opening, she decided to contact Linda who made an explosive return and burst into the The Vic, abruptly stopping the party.

Sharon then took Annie and Ollie back to hers as a distraught Linda accused Alfie and the rest of their neighbours of not caring that Mick is gone.

A sheepish Alfie was quick to insist he was just being a friend but a furious Linda threw him out, refusing to hear his reasoning.

Later, Alfie decided to fight for their friendship as he returned to The Vic determined to make Linda see what she means to him and the community.

After calming down, Linda said Alfie could keep his job for now but dropped a major bombshell – she is going to sell The Vic.

Explaining her reason, she said: "I do need somewhere that's home but it can't be here", she added: "It all just reminds me of him [Mick], it's time to sell The Vic."

Viewers were quick to react to the news as they questioned who would take over the pub.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Feeling sorry for Linda… Wonder who's gunna buy the Vic next? #EastEnders."

A different account put: "Linda saying she can’t continue living at the vic without mick, so she’s going to sell it 🙁 I hope she changes her mind and runs it with sharon instead! #EastEnders."

While another follower added: "I wonder if Linda will sell the Vic to Kat and Alfie? #EastEnders."

EastEnders continues on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
