Max Branning star Jake Wood appeared on Secrets from the Square and revealed things are about to take a turn for his character as he tries to get rid of his share of Walford East – which he co-owns with Ian Beale (played by Adam Woodyatt). However, in a spoiler clip, Max will find Ian has taken his share and used it for something else. But, with Ian’s killer secret remaining hidden, Max could make a deal with Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) to get his money back on EastEnders.

Before EastEnders ran out of episodes, Max was in the process of getting rid of his half of Walford East, after his divorce from Rainie Cross (Tanya Franks) was kicked into the next gear.

In a recent episode of Secrets from the Square with Stacey Dooley, actor Jake said: “Ian’s going to offer to take on half of the business to prevent Rainie from getting any of the divorce money.

“Max thought it sounded like a great idea, so that’s where we are at at the moment.”

Max might think this is a great idea, but, it seems when EastEnders returns to viewers’ screens in September, the Branning brother could be left with nothing.

In a spoiler clip, Max tells his business partner: “You are unbelievable Ian.

“You are unbelievable, that’s my money Ian, that is every penny, everything I own.”

With Ian announcing he is the new joint-owner of the Queen Vic it doesn’t take a genius to work out where Max’s money might have gone.

But, with Max looking at a bleak future in Walford if he doesn’t get his money, he could find himself stumbling across Ian’s current enemy Dotty Cotton.

Unless Max signed his share of Walford East over to Ian, the money is still his, so there is still a chance he can get it all back.

But he will need some help, and who better to help him than the woman trying to bring Ian down once and for all?

Dotty Cotton has been trying to find a way to expose Ian for Denny Rickman’s (Bleu Landau) death for months now.

Max could be the final piece of the puzzle if he were to help her expose Ian because he will certainly be desperate enough.

All Dotty has ever really wanted is money, so Max could promise her a cut of his own if she promises to get it back.

Dotty hasn’t been confident enough to try and bring Ian down on her own since her only piece of evidence was deleted.

Two is always better than one, and after all, they are family.

Could Ian be looking down the barrel of a Branning/Cotton gun, as his killer secret is finally exposed to the residents of Walford?

Fans have some different ideas though as to who will finally expose Ian and have taken to Reddit to discuss.

One fan said: “Between Peter’s (Dayle Hudson) curiosity in the aftermath of the boat crash and his scenes with Dotty (which I think will increase as the story of Ian’s secret progresses) it would not surprise me at all if Peter found out the truth and confronted Ian with Sharon overhearing. I don’t think he’d directly tell Sharon (Letitia Dean), but I could see it if he & Ian have a really bad falling out about it.”

“Could be Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) now that she and Sharon get along. I definitely think it’ll end up being a Beale if it’s not Ian confessing it to Sharon himself.” a viewer added.

But, the general consensus is that once Dotty has enough people standing with her, she will be the one to deal the final blow on the Walford killer.

Will Max be willing to risk it all for the sake of Ian Beale?

EastEnders can be streamed on BBC iPlayer and BritBox.
