EastEnders star miles away from Kim Fox in classic TV throwback snap

Tameka Empson has captivated EastEnders fans for over a decade as the brilliant Kim Fox.

The actress made her debut in the BBC One soap back in 2009, and since then she’s been at the centre of many incredible storylines and moments.

Kim has certainly had her fair share of drama over the years, that’s for sure, including giving birth in The Queen Vic ladies’ loos, not to mention her troublesome relationship with husband Vincent Hubbard (Richard Blackwood).

And if that wasn’t enough, she memorably welcomed her second child Mica in the store room of the Minute Mart with Phil Mitchell by her side!

Tameka has certainly become a household name via her portrayal of the legendary Kim, but the star featured in a number of other popular series and films long before she set foot in Walford.

In fact, one of her first credits came in the 1996 movie Beautiful Thing, in which she starred opposite future EastEnders co-star Linda Henry, who plays Shirley Carter on the BBC One soap.

How incredible is that?

She also appeared in short-lived ITV sitcom Sam’s Game, where she starred alongside Davina McCall, Ed Byrne and future Corrie star Tristan Gemmill.

Do you remember it?

The series, broadcast in 2001, followed eponymous Sam (played by Davina), who lived in a flat in London above a store. Tameka portrayed Marcia, who spent quite a bit of time in Sam’s flat throughout the show’s six episodes!

In addition to Sam’s Game, the actress also appeared in films Goodbye Charlie Bright (which starred Danny Dyer) and Babymother.

The 44-year-old took part on the 2016 series of Strictly Come Dancing, where she was partnered with professional dancer Gorka Marquez.

Tameka took a break from EastEnders in 2019, with Kim travelling to Scotland for an exciting opportunity as a tour guide.

The soap star reprised her role in November last year, following the serial drama’s return to screens after the production break amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kim is currently running her own match-making service named Foxcatcher, and is soon set to be confronted with an old face from the past.

Executive Producer Jon Sen told Metro.co.uk: ‘A ghost from the past comes back to haunt her really, and we’re going to see Kim embark on a much more kind of dramatic storyline which be great to see Tameka with different strings to her bow because she’s such a brilliant actress that it’s just great to see.’

We can hardly wait!
