Emmerdale fans confused over funeral blunder as Charles returns to village

Emmerdale viewers have expressed their confusion at just how long it has taken to plan Victor Anderson's funeral, with his family still making plans one month after he was killed off.

At the end of August, Victor was abruptly killed off after he was accused of stealing a necklace from Manpreet Sharma and was thought to have fled the village before his son Charles found dead him at the church.

It was later revealed that Charles had stolen the necklace and framed his father, after tensions arose between the father-and-son duo after Charles arrived back into his son's life.

However, despite a month passing since Victor's death, his family are still planning his funeral, with fans expressing their confusion on social media.

One wrote: "I just googled it & it looks like victor died 28/29 August, so it's been a month & they're still planning the funeral!! Wtf? #Emmerdale"

"I SWEAR Vic's funeral plans have lasted LONGER than he was IN this show – FFFFFFSSSSSSSSS #emmerdale" added another, while a third quipped: "OMFG I'll have my funeral before Victor's at this rate haha #emmerdale."

And a fourth penned: "Not even the funeral adverts on ITV3 last as long as the lead up to Victor's funeral has. #Emmerdale"

In tonight's episode, Charles returned to the village but lashed out at Tom in The Woolpack as he struggles with his guilt.

It comes after actor Kevin Mathurin, who places the long-suffering Charles, opened up to OK! about the tragic storyline, telling us: "It turns Charles’ life into a complete and utter mess.

"He is guilt-ridden and he has gone against everything that he believes in. He has let personal grudges affect him. The conflict for Charles is overwhelming.”

Kevin says he can relate to Claudette’s devastation over the death of her husband, after watching his own mum deal with losing his grandmother when he was a child.

“Grieving someone can hit you in so many different ways,” he reflected. “My grandmother passed away when I was nine and my mum still misses her now. She talks a lot about her still. But you don’t just grieve people, you grieve pets as they are part of the family too.

“Sadly, we lost our dog, Purdey, who was 13, to cancer earlier this year and Nikki and Harley are still devastated. It’s going to take a while before we can think about adopting another dog. Purdey was such a significant energy in our household that she will be hard to replace.

“There is no time limit on grief and you don’t realise how badly you miss someone or something until they’re gone.”
