Emmerdale fans were left concerned after tonight’s double bill which saw Tracy Metcalfe (played by Amy Walsh) rush to Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) after she spotted a lump on baby Frankie’s tummy. The new mother was verging on hysterical despite Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) reassurance. As a result, those watching at home suggest Tracy is suffering from postnatal depression.
“What’s wrong? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten more stuff we needed?” Nate asked arriving back from the shops.
“I’m taking her to the surgery,” Tracy said. “I was changing her and there’s this lump on her tummy.”
“Let me have a look,” the farmer offered but Tracy hit back: “I just felt it Nate, do you think I’ve made this up?”
Tracy tried to leave but Nate managed to convince her to wait for him and this is when she burst out crying: “I just think it’s one thing after another, is this how it’s going to be?”
In the next scene Tracy shouted from across the village to Manpreet: “Have you got a sec?”
And the doctor replied: “Yes, of course, if it means having a look at this one, how could I say no? How is she?”
“Not well. I think there’s something wrong,” the new mother said and Nate added: “She’s got a lump.”
“On her belly,” Tracyexplained. “We were just heading to the surgery but then I saw you and they say not to wait with these things don’t they?”
“They usually mean more than ten minutes, but obviously what happened with your sister and no matter how scary it is when they’re this young, I would be upset if you hadn’t of asked me,” Manpreet soothed.
After taking a look at the baby, she added: I think it’s a hernia. Nothing serious, it’s not uncommon, it’s just a slight build-up of fatty tissue.
“I’ll book you in for an appointment, so you’re on the system just in case it gets any bigger or it doesn’t go away by itself.”
“It could get bigger?” A worried Tracy asked and the doctor continued: “It’s unlikely, even then it’s a simple surgical procedure.”
Nate chimed in: “See told you it would be nothing,” but Tracy didn’t find it reassuring: “Of course, you were right.”
Taking to Twitter to comment, one said: “I think Tracy is struggling with motherhood possibly post natal depression #emmerdale @amywalsh27.”
“Tracy’s got PND I can just feel it #Emmerdale,” a second wrote.
A third questioned: “Tracy always having a go at Nate, is she starting to get post natal depression?”
While someone else added: “Tracey seems like she’s starting to have a massive problem with Nate. Either this is heading in the direction of a post natal depression [storyline], or I’m wondering about an abuse [storyline] with Tracy as the abuser (I really hope I’m wrong though!)”.
