Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has confessed that he doesn't like to watch himself back on television.
The 41-year-old actor is famous for playing the role of David Metcalfe in the ITV soap opera, after he joined the cast all the way back in 2006.
However, the soap star admitted that he doesn't watch his scenes back when they air on television.
On Monday (13 September), handsome Matthew appeared on ITV's Loose Women to chat to the panel about his character David's tense storyline in the Dales.
It comes as Matthew's character David was left fighting for his life in hospital on the soap after being shot by a gang of thugs led by villain Russ Posner.
When asked about his character's fate, Matthew was shown clips from the soap before he told the presenters: "That's the first time I've seen any of that. I don't really watch myself but it looks quite exciting, doesn't it?"
He went on to discuss the filming process for the hospital scenes, saying: "Lying in that hospital bed I thought would be great.
We did about three days while I was lying there, and it's the hardest thing I've done because you have that pipe in your mouth. You can't swallow, you can't move. It's actually really difficult."
The panel were curious to find out why Matthew doesn't watch his scenes back after acting in them, proceeding to ask him about it.
Matthew answered: "Because about ten years ago I used to watch myself and I used to just hate everything that I did.
"And I used to come into work feeling really down about what I did and I thought 'what's the point?' I might as well do my job.
"As long as they keep employing me which they have for the last sixteen years', I'm obviously doing something right so I don't tend to watch it."
However, he added: "I'll probably watch some of this bigger stuff this week, actually."
David had initially managed to hide under a desk in the Hop leisure activity centre, but he was exposed to the attackers when his phone started to ring.
David was later seen bleeding from nightmare injuries, and he was rushed to hospital where Victoria and his son, Jacob Gallagher (Joe Warren Plant) and his dad Eric Pollard (Chris Chittel) were eager to see if he would make it through.
In emotional scenes, David was taken to critical care with nurses telling his family that they weren't sure if he was going to survive.
It remains to be seen whether or not David will make it out alive, and all will be revealed in the next few episodes.
