From 'Mary Poppins Returns' to 'Isle of Dogs' — Here Are the New Movies Coming to Disney+ During January 2021

WandaVision isn’t the only thing premiering on this streaming platform during January 2021. The new year brings many new movies to Disney+, including releases featuring Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt.

Here are some of the new and already-released movies coming to Disney’s subscription service during January 2021.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Although Disney+ has a number of live-action remakes available, this is a sequel to the original Mary Poppins movie. In it, Emily Blunt portrays the title character, an eccentric and magical nanny who comes to take care of the Banks children.

She’s accompanied on many adventures by Jack (Miranda,) a British lamplighter with a crush on the now-adult Jane Banks. Originally released by Disney during 2018, Mary Poppins Returns will be available on Disney+ beginning on Jan. 15.

‘Isle of Dogs’

Released in 2018, Isle of the Dogs tells the story of the canines exiled to Trash Island. Directed by Wes Anderson, this film features the voice acting of celebrities like Jeff Goldblum, Bryan Cranston, and Bill Murray.

This film earned several nominations following its release. That includes the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film, and Academy Award for Best Music (Original Score). Now, it’s one of the next films to join Disney’s streaming platform. It joins the film library on Jan. 15.

‘Flicka: Country Pride’

If you love a movie about an underdog and horses, Flicka: Country Pride is perfect for you. Toby (Clint Black) and the title character, Flicka, step in to help a stable owner (Lisa Hartman Black) and her daughter save their business. Flicka: Country Pride, as well as the movie’s sequel, premiere on Disney’s streaming platform on Jan. 22.

‘Ramona and Beezus’

A favorite movie of Billie Eilish, Ramona and Beezus tells the story of two sisters who don’t always see eye-to-eye. The creative and outgoing Ramona Quimby (Joey King) has a taste for mischief, while her older sister, Beezus (Selena Gomez) is just trying to be normal.

That’s kind of hard when the two realize their family home on Klickitat Street is at stake. This comedy first premiered in 2010. Now, over 10 years later, this movie will be available for streaming on Disney+, starting on Jan. 29.

Aside from these films, Disney releases new seasons of television shows. The platform also premieres its first episode of the exclusive series, WandaVision, in January 2021.

Additionally, there are Disney movies and television shows already available for streaming on this platform, including Mary Poppins, Wizards of Waverly Place, Moana, and Fantastic Mr. Fox.
