The summer might be over, but fear not as Hollyoaks is well and truly bringing the heath this autumn, with an exciting new era teased in the show’s latest trailer.
The soap is one to watch as it embarks on a new chapter following news of its latest schedule changes, with E4, where it remains hugely successful, becoming its permanent home.
But just what is on the cards? Well, everything it seems! The autumn trailer, which dropped just now, confirms a number of huge stories in the pipeline over the next few months.
The biggest is undoubtedly the downfall of twisted social media influencer Rayne Royce (Jemma Donovan), whose reign of terror reaches a conclusion as part of the huge stunt week, set to air next week.
There are, however, other major developments too, such as Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) 40th birthday party, coupled with a showdown between Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) and Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas), as the truth about the latter’s affair with Mercedes is revealed.
If you fancy sticking with us for a debrief of everything that’s to come then let’s not stand about on ceremony for any longer as we dive in to Hollyoaks’ autumn trailer for a closer look.
Rayne murdered in huge stunt week
Rayne has manipulated and conned the twenty-somethings of the eponymous village to her own advantage for far too long now, with the influencer set to reach a shocking end as a result.
In a bid to save her tanking career, Rayne invites all of her ‘friends’ to a luxury mansion, but things take a shocking turn, with ex-lover Brent, who was thought to be dead, turning up in the middle of a deadly game.
The partygoers are left disturbed and demand answers, with Rayne sturggling to provide them with what they want and it appears as though one scorned resident takes revenge, following confirmation that Rayne will meet a shocking end as part of the soap’s newest whodunit story.
With more enemies than most, it’s safe to say there is no shortage of suspects on the agenda.
‘You can expect a lot of truth bombs that I know will shock the audience and a tonne of drama,’ said Ruby O’Donnell, who plays Peri Lomax.
‘It’s always so much fun filming on location. The mansion was beautiful and it was so nice to be there with all the ’20 something’ gang as we always have such a laugh together.’
Felix’s mental health deteriorates in quarry showdown with Warren
Felix has been seriously struggling following the departure of his son DeMarcus and has been getting into dangerous fights, much to the horror of those around him.
Upcoming scenes see him hoping to cement his future with Mercedes as he gets down on one knee and pops the question, but he doesn’t get the answer he was looking for, which drive him to the edge of a quarry he used to visit as a child.
Warren knows exactly where he’s off to and thus follows suit, with the pair ending up in a perilous situation. Warren is left dangling over a cliff and Felix is in a confused state – but will they make it back home?
‘Filming at the quarry was absolutely amazing and hardcore at the same time,’ said Richard Blackwood, who plays Felix. ‘It’s going to be danger onscreen, not knowing what’s going to happen, will Warren and Felix both make it to the end of the episode.
Mercedes star Jennifer Metcalfe added: ‘It was inevitable that [Mercedes] was going to cheat on Felix with somebody and I’ve worked with Jamie so much, the characters are great together, so if it was going to be anyone then Warren’s a good person for her to choose. The dynamic between the three of us is just brilliant’.
Sienna’s plot scuppered by new arrival
Sienna continues to fight her feelings for Rafe, continuing with the plot to con him out of his fortune, but things hit yet another brick wall when Camilla – Rafe’s so called ‘love of his life’ – arrives. Sienna refuses to back down, vowing to make Rafe fall in love with her – even if it kills her.
Ethan, meanwhile, decides its time to move on as he vows to find someone else following his split from Sienna. Dilly, however, might be a little too close to home and things escalate, with the trailer giving us a peek at a shocking slap when Sienna cracks.
The question is: where will Ethan’s loyalties lie?
Mercedes celebrates a huge milestone
Mercedes turns 40, with the McQueens determined to make the occasion one to remember. The birthday girl dons a signature red dress to celebrate, but with her recent cheating scandal bubbling under the surface, is it only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose?
Yazz suffers a health scare
Yazz is rushed to hospital by Misbah after a devastating health scare. In emotional scenes, Yazz breaks down, worried about what is going on with her body.
Carter’s true motives revealed in suspicious support group
Carter leads a support group, which he manages to convince John Paul to join. Goldie, meanwhile, continues her investigation into the newcomer, who she reckons is definitely up to something.
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 7pm on E4, with first look episodes available to stream weekdays on All4.
