Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson has teased what viewers can expect when Maxine Minniver's estranged mother Trish arrives in the village next week.
Mysterious Brad King (Tom Benedict Knight) made his debut on the soap during Thursday's night first-look episode on E4.
The hunky newcomer caught Nikki's character Maxine's eye straight away but she's set to get the shock of her life when discovers who he really is.
Soap siren Nikki, 36, told Daily Star: "Poor Maxine! She's not got the best track with her love life.
"She very brazenly tries to get with new guy Brad but later finds out he's her landlord.
"He insinuates that he's going to up her rent and she goes into complete panic mode because she can't afford it.
"Brad then manages to turn it around and make it more of romantic interest in Maxine, which she jumps on straight away."
She added: "However, it is later revealed that Brad is a bit shady because he's actually with her mum."
Loose Women star Denise Welch, who Nikki has known for over 20 years, will make her first appearance as dance teacher Trish in upcoming scenes.
Maxine tries to explain to her estranged mother that her boyfriend has been up to no good but she refuses to listen.
Nikki added: "Maxine and her mother haven't seen each other for years and they've not talked in a long time.
"Trish has only come in to the village to find Brad, not to see Maxine.
"She tells Trish that her and Brad kissed but she doesn't believe Maxine and chooses to side with her boyfriend instead.
"This is an issue Maxine has always had with her mum. She would always believe everyone else apart from her.
"Brad is very sleazy with Maxine and Maxine is angry that she's been used by him."
Former Corrie star Nikki also let slip what Hollyoaks fans can expect from the arrival of Brad and Trish in coming weeks.
She explained: "This is just the beginning for this storyline as Trish and Brad are sticking around.
"It's going to be full of comedy and drama and there's also going to be a very serious element.
"There's also going be plenty of mother and daughter banter with Maxine and Trish.
"I was over the moon with I found out Maxine's mum was coming to the village especially when I knew it was going to be Denise.
"We already have a camaraderie off-screen so on-screen it just works fantastically. I think the audience are going to love it."
Nikki added that her character will revisit a childhood passion of hers in upcoming scenes, and it's something the actress has had to practice in her spare time.
She said: "Maxine is going to start dancing again.
"I can move to music but I am not a dancer. So I'm going to have to really pretend."
Speaking about joining the cast of Hollyoaks in October, Denise said: "I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Hollyoaks in this, their 25th year.
"I'm looking forward to working with some old friends and making new ones.
"The character of Trish Minniver is an actor's dream and I can't wait to introduce her to you."
Denise is no stranger to soaps having starred in ITV soap opera Coronation Street alongside Nikki, who played Natalie Barnes and Candice Stowe.
The veteran actress has also worked with other Hollyoaks stars, including Waterloo Road co-star Chelsee Healey.
Bosses recently confirmed that the Channel 4 soap will go back to airing new episodes five nights a week from Monday, January 18th on E4.
