Sharon Osbourne left the US chat show The Talk in March following a tense exchange with co-host Sheryl Underwood. When the 69-year-old recently appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show she let rip at The Talk’s bosses over her controversial exit from the popular show, explaining how she’ll “never get over this”.
The music manager left Talk Talk seven months ago following a heated discussion with co-presenter Sheryl Underwood after she defended Piers Morgan’s comments about Meghan Markle following her landmark interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Appearing on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show, Sharon did not hold back as she spoke about the fallout.
During the interview, Sharon was not afraid to namedrop showrunners Heather Gray and Kristen Matthews as well as head of CBS Daytime Amy Reisenbach over her exit.
She told Megyn: “I had worked with them for 11 years, they were friends of mine, especially Kristin Matthews.
“I told them that they’d destroyed me, I told them I will never be able to get over this,” Sharon told Megyn.
“It’s like once you have this seed on you that you are a racist, it never goes away.”
The feud on live television came after Sharon defended Piers’ comments about Meghan following her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview.
Sharon locked horns with Sheryl who had suggested her move to defend Piers could be seen as defending a racist.
Reflecting on the row Sharon said: “I think that the showrunners were doing what Amy had told them to do.
“Weak, weak women, that didn’t have a backbone to turn around and say, “This is suicidal. We can’t do this”.
“And to let it go after the break, so it was 20 minutes on national TV of bashing me. Twenty minutes, they just hit me, it blindsided me.
“In the break, there was no executive on the floor, Sheryl refused to look at me, she wouldn’t talk to me.”
An upset Sharon added: “Sheryl, I think, thought she was Gayle King.
“She was hitting me up not as a co-host and a friend, she thought she was a journalist.”
She added: “It was just a nightmare.
But Sharon disagreed, asking: “Why can’t it be he just doesn’t like her? Why does it have to be racist?”
Sharon, who is married to rocker Ozzy Osbourne, tweeted an apology at the time which said she does not “condone racism”.
The aftermath of the row saw Sharon leave The Talk and she recently told Mail on Sunday the feud had left her feeling “mentally beaten up”.
The Megyn Kelly Show is available on Apple Podcasts.
