I’m A Celeb: Grace Dent arrives in Australia
Grace Dent has said that dealing with a devastating family heartache will make her a force to be reckoned with in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! 2023.
The 50-year-old food critic is one of this year’s contestants on the ITV jungle show and has revealed that her tragic parents’ deaths will make her a formidable contender on the ITV series.
“I have been through a really difficult time over the last four or five years,” she said in the run-up to the show, which starts on Sunday.
“My dad had dementia, I cared for him and I lost him,” she added. “Mum had cancer and I lost her. I think that this has made me very strong and resilient. This is going to be a big challenge and now I am older, life is for living and it’s one of the reasons why I said yes.”
Grace, who was spotted arriving in Australia on Monday, has previously spoken about her father’s battle with dementia.

“There is so much I want to say to Dad, but I can’t bring myself to,” she said in 2020.
“Dementia is really awkward, not just painful and frightening, embarrassing, I don’t like to be left alone with Dad. But sometimes I can see terror in his eyes…
“Sometimes, as Dad talks nowadays, midway through a nonsensical sentence his brain catches up, and right then, he understands the total ridiculousness of what he is saying, and pure shame passes across his face.”
Grace, whose father died in December 2022, will be competing for the jungle crown against the likes of Britney Spears’ younger sister Jamie Lynn and controversial GB News host Nigel Farage.
