Inside the life of Sally Dynevor from famous daughter to cancer diagnosis

Sally Dynevor: Coronation Street star speaks after receiving MBE

Since Sally Dynevor’s arrival on the cobbles over three decades ago, Coronation Street fans have seen her involved in some of the most harrowing storylines in the ITV soap.

From a steamy affair with Greg Kelly (played by Stephen Billington), catfights with Natalie Barnes (Denise Welch), the ups and downs of raising her two teenage daughters to tackling breast cancer.

Although Sally’s time in Weatherfield has had its fair shares of ups and downs, it’s fair to say life on the cobbles wouldn’t be the same without the long-running character.

She may share the same name as her character in the show, however, the soap star’s life is miles away from her Weatherfield role.

Express.co.uk has delved into Sally Dynevor’s life away from the ITV soap.

Soap star husband

Sally tied the knot to her husband Tim Dynevor back in 1996 in a church ceremony in Cheshire.

Their special day, which the soap star has described as “really laid-back and casual” was an intimate affair with the reception held at their home.

Speaking to Express.co.uk back in 2015, she confessed her wedding was the best day of her life.

She said: “It was the tightest squeeze, but great fun. Kevin Kennedy played the guitar, we had a bit of food and a few people sang. It was perfect.”

The duo recently celebrated their wedding anniversary as Sally shared a throwback image on her Instagram of the special day.

Tim is a screenwriter and has worked for Sally’s soap rival Emmerdale and was nominated for a BAFTA for his work in the ITV soap.

Breast cancer

Back in 2009 Coronation Street fans saw Sally’s character battle breast cancer in the soap.

In light of the storyline, the actress decided to get a screening done herself where she was diagnosed with the disease in real-life.

As the cancer spread to her lymph nodes, Sally underwent lumpectomy and chemotherapy to remove it and took six months out of the show.

Speaking about her diagnosis in the past, she said: “It just didn’t seem possible. I’d known for six months that Sally Webster was going to get breast cancer.

“I was quite excited about it because it was an amazing story,” said actress Sally in 2011.

“Little did I know that was going to turn into something I wished I’d never said. I wasn’t really expecting the diagnosis at all.

“I thought I’d kind of made it up in my head because of the storyline.”

Famous children

Sally and Tim have three children together, Phoebe, Sam and Harriet.

Although their son keeps a private life, their two daughters have followed in their mother’s acting footsteps.

At the end of 2020, Phoebe rose to fame for her betrayal of Daphne Bridgerton in the Netflix series Bridgerton.

Although she’s also appeared in Fair Play, Bank of Dave and The Colour Room.

Recently, it was revealed the younger of their children Harriet has signed up to star in BBC One’s school-based drama Waterloo Road.

Gushing over her daughter’s success, Sally shared a snap on her Instagram of Harriet saying:”So proud of you @hattiedynevorr joining @waterlooroad playing Libby Guthrie. Such a fabulous cast and crew.”
