ITV Im A Celebrity dealt crushing blow as fans boycott series

I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! viewers are reportedly down by millions as TV fans continue to switch off due to a Nigel Farage boycott.

The Mirror reports how the opening week of the show saw its usual ratings decrease by millions compared to the 2022 series.

In total, the show's launch was down by 2.2 million viewers compared to the previous year, as some declared they did not agree with casting the controversial politician.

It’s also being reported that viewing figures continue to drop as a further 1.3 million people opted to turn off the series, in comparison to Monday’s episode.

After this Saturday's episode was aired at the later time of 9.30pm due to losing its usual slot, it was watched by 5.5 million people.

On average, 4.8 million viewers tuned into the celebrity competition series, which was over 1 million less than Monday night’s score of 6.1.

Last year, however, the TV series saw a peak audience of 7.8 million viewers, with 7 million tuning in every night on average.

It’s thought that Christmas nights out and shopping in the lead-up to the festive season could also be partly to blame for the dwindling numbers, while others continue to boycott over Farage.

Recent episodes saw the former UKIP party leader being faced with a grim eating challenge in which he had to chow down on penis pizza, camel udders, and a cow teat in a bid to win stars – which means meals – for his campmates.

Nigel reportedly agreed a huge £1.5 million deal to appear on the show, which would make him the highest-paid contestant ever.

The Brexit campaigner has already clashed with campmate Nella Rose over his views on immigration.

YouTube star Nella, 26, confronted Nigel, saying: “Let’s get everything out in the open. All the tea is coming out now… apparently you’re anti-immigrants?”

In response, 59-year-old Nigel asked Nella who’d told her that, with her stating that she’d got the information from the internet. “Oh, well there we are then it must be true."

Nigel quipped, to which Nella replied: “It must be! OK, but then why don’t black people like you?”

Nigel added they did like him and said: “If you came with me through South London, you’d be astonished.”

Nella hit back: “So everyone hates you for no reason? Not that everyone hates you, that was so bad. Sorry."

The Brexiteer said it was “grossly unfair” of her to “chuck around accusations,” before attempting to clarify his stance on the matter.

“You can disagree with somebody, but to chuck around accusations the way they’ve been chucked around is grossly unfair,” he said.

“Anti-immigrant, right? No, no, all I’ve said is we cannot go on with the numbers coming to Britain that are coming.”

Nella added: “Those immigrants that are coming in, I came in.”

Nigel concluded with the argument that immigration was a ‘good thing’ until it comes to getting a ‘GP appointment,’ to which a taken aback Nella blamed a lack of NHS funding.

As he went to the Bush Telegraph to discuss the events, Nigel said: “What was interesting was at the end of it she said, ‘Well, OK, we’re going to agree to disagree.’ And that’s the important thing, agreeing to disagree.”
