ITV Im A Celebs Sam Thompson’s mum breaks down in tears saying she dreads watching show
Sam Thompson's mum Karen has opened up about watching her son on I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, revealing she isn't enjoying watching the ITV show.
Made in Chelsea star Sam, 31, has proven to be a hit with TV viewers so far in the jungle, and Karen, who is also mum to MIC star Louise Thompson, appeared on Hits Radio Breakfast Show on Wednesday, 6 December to chat to Fleur East about her son's jungle stint.
She became tearful as she was shown a video Sam had filmed for her before jetting to Australia, where he said he hoped she was proud of him.
In the video, Sam said: "Hello mum, you can't reply because I'm not actually here I'm in the jungle but I just wanted to say that I miss you and I hope you're proud of me.
"As you know very well I've wanted to do this show for a very long time and I'm in there, we're living the dream, or I've been booted out but I still managed to do it for a little bit of time."
Karen was taken by surprise by the prerecorded message. She exclaimed: "Oh my God. I'm going to cry. You shouldn't have shown me that, it's really horrible being a parent. I hope people do like him.
"Not everyone likes everyone, but we are all so unbelievably proud. From my father, who I don't think has ever watched the show before, and my mother says 'Oh my goodness your father goes round everywhere telling everybody'."
Earlier in the radio interview, Karen admitted she hasn't been enjoying watching I'm A Celeb as she finds it "nerve-racking" seeing her son on-screen.
"It’s nerve-wracking as it’s my little boy, my child! I dread it every evening, but he is just being himself and he seems to be happy, and he looks well and that’s the main thing," the mum-of-two said.
Karen also revealed one of Sam's habits has made its way into the jungle as she's spotted she's been collecting sticks and twigs.
She explained: "He’s managed to pick up loads of sticks and branches to wander around with, and I don’t know whether he does it at work, but he’s never been without something sword or light sabre like in his hand to wander around with."
"So, the jungle is a great place for him because they’re everywhere – he can literally go around picking up swords and light sabres!"
