ITV This Mornings Craig Doyle storms off set as he hosts show with Josie Gibson
This Morning host Craig Doyle had a relatable last-minute panic about getting home for Christmas, as he dashed out of the studio, leaving co-star Josie Gibson on her own.
Craig, 53, showed that he feels festive traffic stress as much as the rest of us as he tried to make an early break for his car on Thursday's show, 21 December. Consumer reporter Alice Beer been explaining that he was planning on travelling at the worst possible time.
Alice was presenting a shopping segment from a designer outlet in Swindon and gave viewers tips on picking up last minute gifts during their journey home.
She asked Craig and Josie: "Are you two travelling over Christmas, are you getting home by train?"
Craig told her: "If everyone can clear the M4 at 12:30 for about 25 minutes I'd be really, really happy, thank you so much. But it does get you into a bit of a panic, doesn't it, just the roads, trains, air, all of it."
However, Craig was left doing a shocked double take when Alice told him: "Can I tell you, 12:30 is not the time to travel, 12:30 is one of the busiest times and the M4 yesterday was shut at junction 12 Craig, this is a special report for you, watch out."
He got up from his desk and rushed out of the studio as he told the camera: "See ya!"
Josie was left alone in the studio, saying: "Thank you, my co-host has tried to get home, come back in you! Come back here, you've got a job to do, you're not leaving yet! You'll get home."
Viewers saw Craig re-emerge from backstage, reassuring Josie: "They said it's going to be absolutely fine."
Later on Thursday, Josie appeared on Loose Women where she told how she had fallen ill on the flight home from I'm A Celebrity in Australia and had to be taken to hospital when she was back in the UK.
She said: "I had severe tonsilitis, I couldn't breathe, so I got taken to hospital and they put me on a drip to get the swelling down so I could breathe again.
"It was a bit touch and go whether I could make This Morning."
