Jonnie Irwin shares first look at TV return today amid terminal cancer battle
Jonnie Irwin has delighted fans by sharing an exciting first glimpse of his return to television.
The Place in the Sun presenter, 49, who has also been documenting his battle with terminal cancer, revealed he will be back on our screens by posting some teaser images of him filming.
Along with the behind-the-scenes snaps, Jonnie explained he has filmed a new episode of Escape to the Country that will be airing on BBC One today, 25 September, at 3 pm.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, Jonnie yesterday shared some snaps of him holding his scripts and filming in a picturesque woodland location. He wrote the caption: "Good news to start the week, there’s a brand new episode of @escape_country airing tomorrow on @bbcone at 3 pm, and it’s one of mine! “I head down to Somerset and look at some fantastic rural properties in some beautiful locations."
He added: "Plus, I also get to visit a cider farm – perks of the job. Hope you enjoy!”
Jonnie was diagnosed with cancer in 2020, revealing to fans last year that his diagnosis is now terminal. The TV personality has been keeping his fans updated about his cancer treatment and recently took to social media to share an image of himself sporting an oxygen mask.
Captioning the photo, he shared that he was frustrated over waiting times, writing: "The wait for more scans is frustrating when you know the cancer is on the move again.
"Meanwhile, there’s stuff I can do to make the terrain as tough as possible for growth, and the ladies down at @sereniti_health are part of my team of suppliers for various therapies.
"I’d recommend this place to anyone wanting to tap into a healthier lifestyle. Big shout as always goes to @how_to_starve_cancer, whose constant help has a huge impact. #respect"
It comes as the To Buy or Not to Buy star also praised the flexibility of the NHS after he was called for some scans in a leisure centre car park.
He took to Instagram to share his unusual experience, which saw him park up, avoid any queueing, and be back on the road home inside a quarter of an hour.
In the video which he posted on his Instagram, Jonnie said: "Got some scans today. Not in a hospital but in a leisure centre car park."
Alongside his clip, Jonnie lauded the experience and praised the staff as he added the caption: "I actually had a great experience. We were able to park almost on the doorstep, no queue, and done n dusted in under 15 minutes. Well done #nhs."
