Kate Garraway jokes on past fashion fails as she discusses Richard Arnolds OK! interview

Good Morning Britain's Kate Garraway laughed about her fashion fails, as she discussed Richard Arnold’s recent comments about her past outfits in his exclusive OK! interview.

Richard, 52, teased in his chat with OK! that he wanted to give his co-star some fashion advice before she attended Buckingham Palace later this year to receive her MBE from a member of the Royal Family.

He told us: “I’m going to have to have a strong word with her, though, to make sure she doesn’t turn up in a corsage.”

Ben Shephard, 47, brought up Richard’s comments to try to find out what fashion guidance Richard, who recently celebrated 25 years in breakfast TV, hopes to offer Kate.

Kate, 54, said: “I saw that! I’m looking forward to your advice.”

Richard admitted he “couldn’t wait” to help her select an outfit for the prestigious occasion, after she was awarded an MBE on the New Year’s Day honours list for her services to charity and journalism.

And it seems he has a point, as Kate admitted that her fashion choices in the past haven’t always been a success.

She said: “I think I sometimes have the tendency to over accessorise.” Richard agreed: “You do.”

As Kate joked: “Do you think a tiara is too much?”Richard replied: “Possibly too much, you don’t want to pull focus.”

Kate then broke into laughter as Ben suggested Kate went all out and threw in a little wand as well.

Richard looked back on Kate’s evolving style to bring up a particular fashion choice that the mother of two used to opt for when they first started working together.

He continued: “You did have a passion for corsages didn’t you, back when we started working together?” Kate added: “Love a broach.”

However, the presenter admitted that her stylist, Debbie Harper, did not share her love for extravagant accessories.

Richard added: “Poor old 'Debbie dresses', you’d get Kate in her best bib and tucker and then-”

As Kate cut in: “She just used to send me texts with capitals saying: ‘No’ with lots of o’s.”

The 52 year old entertainment editor also told OK! in his exclusive interview that his co-stars are “like family” to him and they all “belly laugh every day”.

He disclosed: “It’s the same with all the team now as Susanna, Charlotte [Hawkins], Laura [Tobin] and Ranvir [Singh] and I have all worked together for quite some time.”

“Kate, Ben and I just have a larger shared history. Those friendships mean a great deal. I always say the greatest pension you can have is shared history.”

"To get up and work the hours we do, there’s no room for egos, we just belly laugh every day. It really is a family affair.”
