Kieron Dyer was "medically withdrawn" from Sunday's episode of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after he collapsed from a respiratory problem during the show.

Prior to his exit, the former footballer, 42, had bravely opened up about how he was a victim of sexual abuse as a child as the instructors said he was a "f**king brave man" for sharing his story.

During the episode, Kieron was left struggling to breathe as he fell to the floor during an overnight challenge with Ant Middleton revealing to the group afterwards that he had been "medically withdrawn".

Ant, 40, said that the sporting star had collapsed from "respiratory problems" and that he would be having a few tests but relaxing with his "feet up".

He said: "Number 12, unfortunately he hasn't made it. I'm only joking, but number 12 is fine, running few tests, he's got his feet up, he's enjoying a nice warm bed. So listen, no worries there… "

The show's voiceover then revealed that Kieron had been "medically withdrawn" from the course.

Ant added: "Five of you left now, okay? It's getting f**king serious, as you know."

Kieron has since spoke about his exit, revealing that a broken rib had punctured his lunch and it had collapsed, he added that he was "gutted" he had to leave.

Speaking to the Mirror, he said: "I started screaming with the pain. My body shut down, my body was just breaking down and that was the end for me.

"I got taken to hospital and my broken rib had punctured my lung and it had collapsed. I just couldn’t breathe and then that’s when I keeled over."

At the end of the episode, show watchers were quick to praise Kieron for being so brave and sharing his story before his exit.

One person said: "Kieron Dyer. Complete and utter respect. Forget carrying on with broken ribs and a collapsed lung… his real bravery is talking so openly to a national audience. Will help hundreds of people. #SASWhoDaresWins."

A different account put: "God damn, my respect for Kieron Dyer has gone through the roof. Very brave thing to open up to people with. Very very brave. #SASWhoDaresWins."
