Health Secretary Sajid Javid spoke on Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard on the latest social care news and changes. Ms Reid noted that in the Tory manifesto, it was pledged that no one needing social care would be forced to sell their home in order to pay for it. She added that this may not be a promise the Tories can stick to as those who have assets worth £100,000 are expected to pay for their care, even if this asset is their home.

Mr Javid argued that this would not be the case due to the deferred payment agreement which will mean “no one will have to sell their home during their lifetime to pay for social care.”
