Married at First Sight UK star Whitney Hughes has revealed the lengths she and fellow contestant Matt Murray went to in order to pursue their romance, after falling in love on the E4 dating show.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the 31 year old PA from St. Albans revealed that she and Matt has actually snuck out of the apartments during the experiment, successfully dodging producers in the process.
The information came to light as Whitney arrived at the train station, where she posted a photo of her feet and luggage alongside a specific memory, which read: “Getting the train reminds me of when Matthew and I snuck out the apartments and went to Westfield.”
The rueful admission comes just days after fans were left shocked by the decision of the show’s experts to let both Whitney and Matt continue to explore their blossoming relationship together on the show.
When the experiment first began, Huddersfield based Matt had first been paired up with wife Gemma Rose, but after initially being optimistic about their future together, the couple found they were ultimately incompatible.
Whitney started the experiment with Recruitment HR co-ordinator Duka, with the star very nearly jilting him at the altar after realising he wasn’t quite the dream husband she had in mind.
Over the course of an awkward few days the couple got to know each other, but soon realised there was no spark or chemistry to keep the potential romance alive.
While both couples could have opted to walk away, in a move that shocked viewers at home – and their fellow couples – Whitney and Matt decided to pursue a romance together, much to the disgust and horror of their fellow participants in the experiment.
Going public with their romance at a dinner party, Matt and Whitney left Gemma in tears as the news of their new love affair came to light, with tempers soon fraying at the edges in a volatile slanging match that saw angry words flying from all parties.
In a further shocking twist, the couple even sought to receive the blessing of the show’s panel of experts to continue with their new romance in the constraints of the show, something many viewers at home thought undermined the process completely.
However, the experts themselves granted them approval, with the other couples left watching in shock as they arrived at a subsequent dinner party, hand in hand and proud of their new relationship.
Will their new romance survive until the end of the experiment?
