Nervous Kate Garraway shares job fear as she issues update on Dereks recovery
Kate Garraway has revealed that she's "nervous" about the future of Artificial Intelligence.
The 56-year-old presenter was back on the ITV breakfast show on Tuesday (October 31) with co-host Richard Madeley and they welcomed Fleur East into the studio to open up about being replaced by AI on her Hits Radio Breakfast Show.
For Halloween morning only, presenter Fleur was replaced with an AI version of herself co-hosting the show alongside James Barr and producer Matt Haslam. In an ambitious first, AI Fleur presented the whole breakfast show, interacting with her co-hosts and having a chat on air with Fleur’s real life husband Marcel as well as her mum.

After a clip of AI Fleur was played on GMB, Kate said: "That is amazing. I'm a bit nervous because I do a radio show as well and I feel you may have done us both out of a job. Why are you doing this?" Fleur replied: "Well you say that but it's a bit of fun but AI is no replacement for us humans. There's no interaction really, no emotion, she can't really take part in the banter."
Elsewhere in the show, Kate shared a huge medical update on husband Derek Draper's recovery amid his Covid battle. She opened up on her former Labour lobbyist spouse being well enough to attend former Labour minister Lord Peter Mandelson's wedding at the weekend. Kate said being invited to Peter's ceremony with husband and long-time partner Reinaldo "meant the world to him" amid Derek's lengthy illness, which has left him wheelchair-bound.
Previously Derek, 56, was fighting for his life after suffering Covid. Kate gave a "massive thank you" to the newlyweds for accommodating Derek's needs. Speaking in the studio, Peter said: "It was a lovely, lovely wedding and we are very happy. "And Kate, very pleased, if you don't mind me saying so, that Derek was there because Derek worked for me as my parliamentary aide back in 1992 when I was first elected."
Kate replied: "You were very kind because it was a massive day for you and it took a lot of organisation to get him there but it meant the world to him so on a personal note, thank you."
