Nigel Farage ‘in talks to join I’m A Celebrity’ – after turning down show ‘several times’

Nigel Farage is reportedly negotiating a huge deal to participate in I'm A Celebrity, according to TV sources.

The 59-year-old former leader of the Brexit Party, who has mentioned previous invitations to the show in the past, is reportedly holding advanced discussions with ITV's show producers.

The Sun reports how the potential deal, understood to be valued at up to £1 million, is being arranged through the same talent agency, The Visionary Talent Agency, that represented Georgia Toffolo, the show's winner in 2017.

Boy George's appearance on the show last year allegedly earned him £900,000, and it is speculated that Nigel could demand a similar sum.

TV producers are confident that signing Nigel will guarantee another successful series, especially following last year's hit season, which featured disgraced former Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

In addition to the politician, the show's line-up is so include jockey Frankie Dettori and This Morning's Josie Gibson.

An insider within the television industry told the publication: "Nigel has been at the top of the wish-list for I'm A Celeb bosses for years.

“They've offered him a huge fee as they know he'll drive up viewing figures. Ant and Dec will love this signing.

“Nigel's the ultimate Marmite character and won't hold back in camp discussions. It's a real coup. The casting team has nailed it. It's shaping up to be a brilliant series."

Last year, he mentioned previous approaches by I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! on his GB News show, stating, "I have been approached several times by I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and I've always ruled it out.

“I've never thought it would be a good thing to do. I thought it's all rather humiliating, frankly.

"But I suppose you can never say never. I'd love to get some of your reactions, some of your feedback on whether you think I should be in the jungle — or whether you think we should leave it to people like Matt Hancock."

If Nigel participates, he will be joining a list of former MPs, including Nadine Dorries and Edwina Currie, and even Boris Johnson's father, Stanley, who have all taken on the jungle challenge.

It comes as Nigel previously joked that he’d like to join Love Island as a new contestant after commenting the ITV2 show looked “rather good fun.”

The former UKIP leader made the remark after joining islander Hayley Hughes on BBC’s Daily Politics show, where the blonde beauty talked all things Brexit.

He said: “I haven't really been a fan of it but having sort of researched it a bit this morning it sounds like rather good fun actually.

"I might get invited on, you never know."
