Stacey Solomons life from being ghosted by famous ex to abandoning singing
Stacey Solomon’s life has been full of surprises and excitement – from topping the music charts to winning I’m A Celeb. She’s also opened up on her lower moments over the years, like when she was ghosted by a famous ex, or the anxiety she suffers from.
Finishing third, narrowly behind Olly Murs and Joe McElderry, the much-loved TV and music personality burst onto the scene in 2009 as a 19-year-old on the X-Factor.
Singer and judge Dannii Minogue took Stacey under her wing during the competition and trained the youngster into a superstar as she sang her heart out to classics like Somewhere Only We Know and Who Wants to Live Forever.
During her X-Factor adventure her cover (along with other finalists) of You Are Not Alone by Michael Jackson reached number 1 in the UK Singles Chart, and the gang went on tour together.
I’m A Celeb then came calling, and Stacey pipped everyone else to the post as she was crowned Queen of the Jungle ahead of former Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder, TV host Alison Hammond and sprinter Linford Christie, among others.

Next on her journey (after rejecting advances from The Only Way Is Essex) was the release of various singles, including a Christmas cover that hit 27 in the UK Singles Chart and was used by Iceland for their Christmas advert.
A successful album – “Shy” – was next in early 2015, as well as fashion collaboration deals at brands like Primark and Amazon.
2015 was also when Solomon had a brief fling with entertainer Steve-O, who “still beats himself up” over their relationship breakdown – such is Solomon’s magnetic energy.
The Wimbledon-born Jackass star admitted to ghosting her after six months of dating. He said: “I had become not only part of her life, I’d become part of her kids’ lives too. And then – poof – I was gone.”

Solomon was confused but doesn’t hold a grudge: “You’ll have to ask him why, I’m still trying to figure it out”.
By this stage Solomon was well-versed in TV roles, having appeared on Celebrity Juice, 8 out of 10 Cats and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, before she started dating TV presenter Joe Swash, whom she met during her stint on I’m A Celeb.
Sadly for Solomon the allure of music was fading away. She told Loose Women of how she met a “really big” music producer in a different country who could help distribute her work. The producer asked her if she wanted some “alone time with him at dinner” – a proposition which Stacey “laughed off” at first, before it home how dark the industry could really get.
She added: “At that point I was like okay, I am going to go home and definitely not further my career in this”.
Since leaving the music world behind, Solomon is now married to Swash, and they recently had their third child together.
She is now very much focused on TV – her latest project is Sort Your Life Out on the BBC, where she “helps families transform their homes with a life-changing declutter”.
She is not completely off the music though, telling the Guardian: “If someone rang me and said: ‘Stace, d’you want to sing down at the RAF club?’ that to me is a lot of fun. But I don’t do gigs any more.”
Sort Your Life Out is showing at 8pm on Thursday night on BBC One.
