Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood explains why he saved Molly over Tyler after dig

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood appeared on Wednesday's It Takes Two to discuss Sunday's results show.

During the latest instalment, the judges chose to save Molly Rainford over Tyler West during the dreaded dance-off as the latter was eliminated from the show with pro Dianne Buswell.

Asked about the seven final celebrities on the show and if he expected to see the stars still in the competition, Craig admitted: "No, actually, oddly, I did think Tyler would have gone through but it is just one of those things isn't it.

"I think it happens every year when we get two really good dancers that are put in the bottom two, and we've got to choose out of them, it's really disappointing but that's the way it is. You have just got to deal with it."

Speaking about why he saved Molly, he added: "Well because of her energy. Also the fact that technically, I thought she was really, really good.

"She was clean, she was precise, she was sharp and she'd lifted that labour quality, you know she was a little bit heavy the first time she danced it.

"The second time she danced it in the dance-off, she was a lot lighter so that's why I chose her."

It comes as Tyler reacted to a "dig" that Craig had made about him during Saturday's show on Monday's It Takes Two.

During Saturday's main show, Craig had said after Will Mellor's routine: "There was so much hip content, I think you need to go backstage and teach Tyler a thing or two about that."

Speaking about the remark on Monday's It Takes Two, Tyler said: "I mean, I don't know how necessary it was. I wasn't even showing my hips.

"But you know what? All the judges, they make their comments and I'm so grateful to be able to dance in front of them, and have their comments each week, and work with them on the show.

"They're all amazing in their own right, and it's just part of it, and you take it on board. You grow with it and you try to work harder, and I feel like we left it all there on that dancefloor. So that's all I can ask for."
