Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has used her weekly Daily Mail column to warn this year’s Strictly Come Dancing finalists, telling them to enjoy it while it lasts because they’ll be in for a shock when the Glitterball Trophy hits someone’s mantelpiece and the sequinned spandex gets put into storage.
“A warning to all… Sunday is quite the hangover but, by Monday, you’ll wonder where all the stardust has gone,” she wrote.

Kelvin Fletcher relationships: Inside the dating life of the Strictly Come Dancing finalist
The broadcaster appeared on Strictly herself back in 2013, reaching the final and only narrowly missing out on winning the competition. So she knows what she’s talking about. Susanna competed against Model Abbey Clancy, Coronation Street actress Natalie Gumede and Murder on the Dancefloor singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, losing out to Abbey Clancy in the final.
“Making it to the final of Strictly is the most surreal experience. For Emma, Karim and Kelvin, this will be an emotionally overloaded week,” she went on, preparing the trio for what’s to come.
“For four months, the celebs have formed the closest of friendships with a partner who has been a teacher, coach and confidante.”
Her dance partner six years ago was the popular figure of Grimsby’s very own Kevin Clifton. It was his debut year, the two hit it off immediately and gave the judges and public some seriously impressive displays.
“The final training will take place today — and at the end of the rehearsal, they will switch off the lights of a dance studio that has become more familiar than their own homes.”
“Every moment of the last week feels heavy. While competitive nerves fizz through their bodies, it’s a long week of goodbyes. After the last performance, the dresses will go back into the Strictly wardrobe to be refashioned for future dancers.”
It’s a message we’ve heard before from previous contestants. So the feeling of deflation after the show wraps up must be real. Here’s hoping Kelvin, Karim and Emma are ready for it.

Susanna may be full of warnings for all three finalists, but she sees to have her favourite…
“So who will take home the Glitterball?” she asks. “The public may vote for Anton and Emma, feeling it’s his year, while Karim is the most naturally gifted dancer. But my money is on Kelvin, left with partner Oti Mabuse. A last-minute replacement, he’s left me speechless with his powerful presence.”
Will Kelvin win…? We’ll find out this weekend.
