The Office US was created following the success of the British version starring actor and comedian Ricky Gervais. The American comedy originally aired on NBC but now episodes can be re-watched time and again on Comedy Central.
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Office US.
The Office follows those who work at the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.
While it may not seem like an exciting premise for a comedy, The Office has everything: blossoming romances, an overly enthusiastic boss and a paranoid egomaniac.
The show is entirely separate to the UK version with the British series being set in Berkshire.
However, Gervais did have something to do with the US version when it came out.
Gervais, who has since gone on to write and star in hit Netflix series After Life, wrote The Office UK and had a say in the US version.
He created the UK original series alongside Stephen Merchant who portrayed Oggy.
The pair then co-wrote two episodes of The Office US before Mindy Kaling, BJ Novak, Greg Daniels, Paul Lieberstein and Michael Schur took over as the original writing team.
With all of these great comedy minds behind the series, it’s no wonder The Office US became a success in its own right.
How many seasons of The Office US are there?
The Office US season one started on NBC on March 24, 2005.
The sitcom was then on our screens for eight years, coming to an end on May 16, 2013.
During this time, there was a total of nine seasons of The Office US.
From the number of episodes in the first series, it is clear the creators wasn’t sure how the comedy would go down.

The comedy really reached its peak though in 2008 when season five had a massive 28 episodes.
Now several years after the sitcom came to an end, there are talks of a reboot.
All nine seasons will be on new streaming service Peacock next year.
The former head of streaming Bonnie Hammer told Deadline: “The Office comes back to us in January 2021.
“It is my hope that we can figure what that great reboot would be. We are having conversations.”
