This year’s Strictly Come Dancing cannot come soon enough for fans of the BBC dance contest who are eagerly awaiting to see what famous faces will be taking to the dance floor in a bid for the Glitterball Trophy. However, it isn’t just among the celebrity line-up where change is coming as former pro dancer Anton du Beke has been enlisted to replace Bruno Tonioli on the judging panel. Among the professional line-up, Karen Hauer has kept her place and was quizzed about the new-look Strictly by the Loose Women panel on ITV on Tuesday.

Karen, who’s been a firm fixture among the pros since her debut in 2012, will be back to try and bag her first-ever win on Strictly after narrowly missing out to Oti Mabuse and Bill Bailey with her partner Jamie Laing last year.

Her celebrity dance partner is yet to be unveiled but it hasn’t stopped the star from expressing her excitement at returning to the dance floor.

And during her chat with the Loose Women on Tuesday, Karen beamed as she expressed how excited she was to see Anton in the judge’s chair.

“We’re all so happy (for him),” she explained. “But yeah, I’m still standing apparently, thanks, Anton (laughs).”

Karen continued: “So I’m really, really happy for him.

“This is something that we know means a lot to him and it’ll be amazing to see him there,

“Especially him knowing what we go through as dancers and what the celebrities go through when they’re on Strictly.”

When asked what she thinks Anton will be like as a judge, the Strictly star replied: “I think he’ll be fair actually, I think he’ll be fair.”

She reiterated: “Again because he knows what he’s watching and he knows what it feels like.”

However, spotting the chance for a tongue in cheek warning aimed his way, Karen added: “But you know, if he’s not, we’ll have a talk with him backstage.”

The panel let out a laugh as the conversation soon towards Karen’s love life away from the BBC series.

When asked about her relationship status ahead of the new series, Karen: “I love being in a relationship, I think it’s a beautiful thing.

“I think being in love is beautiful and regardless of my previous relationships and how they’ve ended or whatever has happened, it’s nice to feel loved and to love.

“I’ve learned a lot, you know, I’ve matured a lot throughout the years,” Karen continued before Coleen Nolan jumped in.

“Do you think you’d date dancers again?” Coleen probed – referring to Karen’s relationship with former Strictly pro, Kevin Clifton.

“Or are you gonna stay away from that?” the Loose Women host added as Karen replied: “No! No dancers – that’s it, good night.”

Karen jokingly waved at the camera before ducking out of shot but returned to say: “No more dancers.

“I hope they don’t dance, none of them,” she said as the panel let out a laugh.

Fans will see Karen back on screens when Strictly returns later this year with the likes of Giovanni Pernice, Aljaz Skorjanec, Oti Mabuse and many other pros also confirmed to return.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
