TV personality Meghan McCain is one of the popular co-hosts on The View who first started gaining attention in 2007 with her blog McCain Blogette and later published Dirty Sexy Politics in 2010.
The daughter of former senator John McCain has long had popular opinions on various matters. Here is what she thinks about religion and abortion.
What are Meghan McCain’s views on religion?
McCain who is a Baptist believes that everyone’s “spiritual journey and relationship with God and their church is their own personal journey.”
She spoke about Catholicism and issues around life and death while discussing the recent decision of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops to draft a document that would deny Communion at Mass to pro-choice politicians such as President Joe Biden.
“I don’t try and proselytize my spirituality on other people, but if you are a devout Catholic, as President Biden claims to be," McCain said, according to Fox News.
“He [Biden] is going to have to ultimately talk to his creator when the time comes, as we all do and reconcile his politics with his — with his personal faith,” she added.
“I believe that he’s doing grave spiritual harm to himself and harm to this country," she added,” she continued.
What does she think about abortion?
McCain slammed Biden on Monday on The View for his support for abortion and being pro-choice, claiming that she is pro-life.
She jokingly said on Twitter on Monday that she is trending in mainstream media because of her position of being anti-abortion and pro-life.
"This is a deep paradigm shift for how I view President Biden because if he is for the federal funding of abortion, and I know the women on this show [The View] disagree with me, but as far as I’m concerned, abortion is murder,” she said.
“And that means the government funding of killing of the unborn and we have to, as pro-lifers, fight for the rights of the unborn, and that is a doctrine that is as old as the Catholic Church itself,” she added.
What are some of McCain’s other popular views?
Using her platform on The View, McCain has been outspoken about her support of the Republican Party.
Oftentimes, Meghan and her co-host Joy Behar get into heated discussions regarding their political affiliation.
At the time of Donald Trump's second impeachment by the House, Meghan backed the House's decision and said she would die fighting for the Republican Party.
"I cannot defend this. I believe President Trump should be impeached," Meghan said on The View at the time.
When asked by her co-host Whoopi Goldberg if she still feels she belongs in the Republican Party or if she felt it was time to change parties, Meghan responded by saying she'll " die fighting for it."
"I'll die fighting for it. I mean, I'm a lifelong conservative, unlike a lot of these heretics," Meghan said.
"I mean, I was born into this, raised into it, it's my whole entire life in all ways and truly at the bottom of my soul, I think as all of you know, I believe in the principles I was raised on."
