He added: “I put on a brave face but it’s been difficult to keep that persona up. Emotionally and physically, it’s had a huge impact on my life this year.”

Adam even revealed that some days he could barely walk and would struggle to get out of bed – something which impacted his mental health massively.

The Waterloo Road star continued: “The pain was such that I couldn’t even walk down stairs and I could just stay in bed all day because it can be quite severe. I could have good days and bad days, but on the bad days, it was really, really bad.”

Ahead of the launch of Strictly last month, Adamopened up about his diagnosis and the struggles that have come with it, and told press: “So far, so good. I'm on [lots] of medication, so I probably won't remember this chat! It's been tough, but I'm on the road to recovery.

“A couple of weeks ago I couldn't really walk or really do much, so to get to this point where I'm at now, I'm just so happy.”
