At the moment, he also has a couple of movies in the pipeline, including a romantic dramedy called Spaceman that stars him as an astronaut.

With a cast of heavy hitters including Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano and The Big Bang Theory alum Kunal Nayyar, the film is due out on Netflix next year.

His other upcoming movie, which still has an undisclosed title, is his reunion with the Safdie brothers, the duo behind his acclaimed 2019 crime drama Uncut Gems.

On the personal front, Adam this June celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife Jackie, whom he met when she played a waitress in his 1999 film Big Daddy.

‘Nobody wants to hear about Adam Sandler’s secret to marriage,’ he quipped to AARP magazine during a cover interview last year: ‘but I guess here’s the secret: Jackie and I like spending time with each other.’

HE added: ‘We try to make each other laugh, try to listen, try to include each other, try to support each other. We try our best – that’s all. And we don’t ever think of not being together. We always talk about our future together.’

One of the preoccupations of their life together is bringing up their teenage daughters, 17-year-old Sadie and 14-year-old Sunny.

‘My wife and I go to sleep talking about the girls. They have so much ahead, and I feel nervous for them, excited for them. As a parent, you just want to make sure your kids are OK when it’s time for them to take off,’ he reflected.

‘But teenagers are complicated. They’d rather spend time with friends than sitting at home with us all the time,’ the Happy Gilmore star acknowledged.

‘They make fun of me if I do something idiotic with my phone. They’ll say: “Here, gimme the phone. You do it like this.” Usually, I’ll just ignore it and keep doing it wrong, because it gives them a reason to talk to me.’
