<\/p>\nFestive films and TV shows are a must when it comes to getting Brits in the seasonal spirit, it appears \u2013 as seven in 10 say that this is what really \u201cmakes Christmas\u201d for them. <\/p>\n
Research of 2,000 adults has revealed the top 10 best Christmas movies and TV content that really help to make them feel jolly \u2013 with Home Alone, and the Only Fools and Horses Christmas specials, topping the respective lists.<\/p>\n
Other popular choices include the popular 2003 releases Elf, and Love Actually, while telly lovers will settle down to re-watch The Snowman, or The Vicar of Dibley Christmas Specials.<\/p>\n
In fact, those polled spend over 28 hours during December glued to their screens \u2013 watching 14 hours of TV episodes across the month, and as long as three-and-a-half hours a week of bingeing festive films.<\/p>\n
The study was commissioned by Sky, whose spokesman said: \u201cBrits love to kick off Christmas with their favourite festive films and TV \u2013 and this year is no different. There\u2019s no doubt the genre is as popular as ever, and it really helps to get people in the mood. <\/p>\n
\u201cWith more content than ever to choose from, and with so many hours spent watching a variety of TV shows and films, having a big range of choice is so important to viewers.\u201d<\/p>\n

The study also revealed the nation\u2019s favourite, and least favourite, Santa of all time \u2013 with Richard Attenborough\u2019s portrayal of the big man in Miracle on 34th Street reigning supreme as the best.<\/p>\n
However, Hulk Hogan\u2019s 1996 flop, Santa with Muscles, was said to be the biggest stinker when it comes to a Father Christmas on screen. Billy Bob Thornton\u2019s turn as Willie T. Stokes in Bad Santa, and Jim Carrey\u2019s The Grinch, were the next most-disliked festive portrayals.<\/p>\n
The research, carried out via OnePoll, also found 53% are bored of watching \u201crepeats\u201d at Christmas, with 40% needing some inspiration on new festive content to watch this year.<\/p>\n
The spokesman from Sky, which allows you to order Sky Stream for next-day delivery ahead of Christmas, and has more than 1,000 films available through Sky Cinema, as well as 12,000 hours of entertainment telly, added: \u201cThe research has shown that, while there\u2019s a real love for the old classics when it comes to repeated TV shows and films, there\u2019s also a desire to freshen it up.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has never been easier to do so with the emergence of content you can stream, which allows the viewer to try something new, as well as soak up the old classics.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no need to be simply stuck with repeats in the schedule any longer \u2013 you can now watch what you want, whenever you want.\u201d<\/p>\n
