At home with Paris Fury as she introduces gorgeous seventh baby – from birth drama to name heartbreak
We’re in awe of Paris Fury. Just a week after giving birth, she opens the doors to her Morecambe mansion to introduce us to the latest addition of her brood.
And it’s business as usual for the busy mum.
“I’ve just sorted out the play area this morning. I’ve thrown out three bags of toys, sorted two to charity and one for the rubbish. I’m always cooking and cleaning… It’s just got to be done!” she tells us.
Of course, being a new mum is familiar territory to Paris. This is her seventh baby with her heavyweight boxing champion husband Tyson Fury.
“Nobody’s got the perfect answer to parenting. I can only do things the way I do it and it’s working for us,” Paris, 33, continues.
Today, OK! can exclusively reveal their gorgeous newborn – who arrived at 2.29am on September 18 weighing 6lb 13oz – is called Prince Rico Paris Fury, known as Rico. All four of the couple’s sons share the same first name, with Tyson previously revealing, “I’m a king and they’re princes until they earn their rightful name.”
Tyson, 35, and Paris have Prince John James, 11, Prince Tyson II, seven, and four-year-old Prince Adonis Amaziah, as well as daughters Venezuala Lynda, 14, Valencia Amber, five, and two-year-old Athena Amour.
The newborn’s middle name, Rico, is a tribute to Tyson’s late cousin Rico Burton, who was tragically murdered in 2022. Paris is obviously a nod to his mum.
“All of my kids have got unusual names and obviously it’s also really personal to Tyson,” Paris says. “We also added my name because I’ve had seven kids and I still haven’t had one named after me, so Tyson thought, ‘Come on, it’s about time!’”
Daughter Venezuela has been a huge support since Rico’s arrival and even steps in to lend a hand with the baby during our shoot. Eldest son Prince is also happy to help, putting away food shopping, which arrives while we’re there, neatly into the kitchen cupboards.
“Venezuela is really interested in the baby,” Paris says. “She keeps playing with him and feeding him – I think she sees him as a little doll. The kids are all really good with him actually. We’re just trying to keep things safe and keep him out of reach because one of them will probably try and put him in a doll’s pram one of these days!”
Here, Paris opens up to OK! about her son’s birth, Tyson’s fears for having more children and how plans for their third wedding are going…
Congratulations on your new arrival, Paris. How are you feeling?
Really good. I’ve had time to spend some time with the newborn because Athena has just started nursery. Usually I’m running after little ones. But at the minute I’m enjoying being able to sit down with him, it’s really nice.
How did the birth go?
I have a condition when I’m pregnant called cholestasis, where the digestive fluid produced by the liver is affected. I had itchy hands and feet during pregnancy, which is one of the symptoms. It can be highly dangerous, so pregnant women get induced a bit early. All of my children have arrived earlier than their expected due date, most of them have been born two to three weeks early. I knew my date in advance and I knew I would be induced. I don’t have C-sections, it’s what I’ve always done.
You had a terrifying experience with Athena when she stopped breathing shortly after birth and had to be resuscitated. Were you fearful of having more children after that?
I had a lot of hesitation after Athena’s birth. Tyson and I talked about it and he was actually more worried than me. But I just had this urge to have another baby. I spoke to a lot of specialists, but it turns out that with Athena it was just a fluke. Thank God this one has come along and he’s perfectly healthy and it went as good as can be.
Was Tyson at Rico’s birth?
Usually he’s there by my side, but he had to bail out because he’s fully immersed in training at camp. He was there until a few hours before Rico was born. Things were going quite slowly, so it seemed like the baby wasn’t going to come until the next day. Tyson left and my mum came in, she was my second birthing partner. His dad came in and saw him soon after.
Has your mum been your birthing partner before, too?
Yes, except when I had Athena and everything went wrong. I said ‘Mum you’ve got to be there this time!’ It was just a relief when he arrived and you can hear the crying. You just have an instant connection to your baby, I don’t know where it comes from.
Who do you think he looks like?
He looks so much like his brothers. He’s dark and he’s got lots of hair. I’m biased but he’s good looking! He’s really long, like his dad. All the Furys have long arms and long legs! They’ve all been really strong early on and they can pull their heads up! He’s perfect. I’m all gooed up with him at the minute.
Has it been difficult with Tyson being away?
My mum has been here and Tyson comes back every day, even though he’s not supposed to. Things are strict when he’s training. He’s not supposed to become mummy or baby minded. It has been a bit different sitting up and doing the night feeds on my own, but it’s just part of what we’ve got to do. I have missed him, but I am lucky, I’ve managed to keep the baby blues away. I’m just on cloud nine at the minute!
How will life change for you both with seven children?
I found the biggest change was going from two to three. At two I could go anywhere and never felt like I had any pressures at all. With three all of the chaos comes and I just enjoy the chaos – clearly because we keep adding to it!
Tyson has said you’ll have 10 kids – is that still the case?
Every time we have another he says, ‘No more Paris! It’s too hard!’ He gets emotional and says, ‘You could die’ because of what happened with Athena. But then the child will get to nursery age and I always think ‘Oh I’d like a newborn!’ I’ve always wanted a big family. I’ve seen a few negative comments saying, ‘Oh they’ve got so many kids’ but we’re looking after them, we’re feeding them, I protect them all. They’re all happy and healthy and they all love each other, so I don’t see the problem.
You’ve hit back at claims by people that you have a ‘secret nanny’ at home. Does it bother you that people think you have help?
Nobody does anything completely on their own. I’ve got friends, family, a babysitter. How else am I going to go out on a date night if I don’t have someone to look after the kids? My kids are at home constantly. Two of the kids are being homeschooled now. I’m not taking the credit for that as I’m not the one homeschooling them, they’re being taught by a tutor, but they’re at home. I like my kids being at home and I like them learning from me and Tyson.
Have Tyson’s younger brother Tommy Fury and his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague met the baby yet?
They haven’t yet, but they both sent some lovely flowers and Molly messaged me. I would be really nice for the baby and their daughter Bambi, to be close, but our lives are just so busy. Tommy’s in a training camp ready to fight in a few weeks, Tyson is off in his training camp, I’m at home with a newborn, Molly’s off doing her businesses. It’s hard to make that time and it’s a shame. We need to get that time together because they grow up so fast!
You and Tyson have been together since you were both teenagers. What’s the secret to a lasting relationship?
We met young and we fell in love, which is really cringey and I hate saying it, but I think that’s what really helps. If my mum saw us argue, she’d say, “You’ll sort it out because you love one another.” The fact we chat to each other is important. I’ll listen to him talk about anything, even if it’s things I don’t like. And he listens to my crap, so if I tell him the baby’s done five poops today and I got my nails done, he’ll listen. Just knowing that you have each other’s back through thick and thin is so important. I don’t have a doubt in my brain that if I need him, he’s there.
Do you still plan on having a third wedding?
We fell pregnant so haven’t had time. I don’t want a big ceremony or a big wedding, I’d like something private with just me and him, it’ll be nice to reaffirm our vows. If he had his way he’d have it like a circus [laughs] a whole Big Fat Gypsy Wedding again! But I think I’ll go subtle.
How do you feel about Tyson’s return to boxing?
It’s all of the same nerves and anxiety I’ve had throughout his career. The only thing that has changed is that I thought Tyson would be ready to retire and I can see that he’s not. I understand it completely. Tyson hasn’t found what he’d like to do after boxing and I’m not sure if he ever will. I’m not sure he’ll ever find anything that fulfils him the way boxing does.
Was it difficult to be so open in your Netflix series At Home With The Furys?
When we first watched the show back, Tyson said, “Is this really what you and my dad think of me? Everything I do, you blame it on my mental health.” I said, “Well it kind of is!” It was a bit of an eye-opener for him. It gave people a really open look into our life and it will help a lot of people. People can look at Tyson and say “Oh, he’s moody” or whatever, but really it’s something that’s an uncontrollable issue and it smooths over pretty quickly.
Venezuela is quickly making a name for herself after the show. Will she have a career in the media?
I want her to do whatever makes her happy. If Venezuela wants to have a business career then I’d be proud of her for that. If she wants to have a partner in life and marry young, I’d support that too. The kids keep telling me they want to get a job and I’m thinking, “You’re 11, 12, 13 and 14, you can’t get jobs!” I swear Venezuela is trying to get herself a job at the local Tesco, but it’s not happening.
Will there be another series?
We’re still in talks for a second series. Netflix are dying to do it and the reaction was so good so we’ll see!
Tell us about your new book…
I go back into my childhood a lot more than the first book. I talk a lot about being brought up as a traveller and how I cope with the kids and the crazy life that we live and how we never know what we’re going to be doing!
