Brian May worries fans with emotional update as rocker sparks concern

Brian May penned a message to musician Tony Iommi on the anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s death.

The Queen guitarist took to Instagram and posted a heartbreaking tribute as he explained he would be taking some time away from the picture-sharing site.

The 76-year-old accompanied the post with a video of a candid show titled Greatest Guitarist Riffs which featured the rocker who questioned fellow musician Tony about the creation of Black Sabbath’s Paranoid which became a cult hit.

In view of his 3.2 million followers, Brian captioned the post: “Me paying tribute to the genius of my dear friend Tony Iommi. Today’s a sad and quiet private day for me – I won’t be posting any more. Take care out there. Bri.”

Fans flocked to the comment section as the guitarist’s cryptic post sparked worry among his loyal following.

One person wrote: “Dear Sir Brian we all mourn with you today… The world lost a great man and star, a legend. My heart goes out to you, Roger, John and Mary.”

Another echoed: “I know today is a rough day for you and Roger and John as well! I know your heart aches for Freddie, and him leaving a void in your lives! I do hope you receive some solace though, knowing how much he was/is still loved by us your fans. And how much we love you Roger and John too! Hugs dearest Bri, and a prayer as well!”

A third commented: “Dear Sir Brian… Although we are spread over the world, today your fans all come together to surround you with our love and light. Our hearts are with you as you remember the good times and ache for what might have been. We will always love and miss our dear Freddie. We are so lucky to have been on this earth at the same time as him. Take care, Sir…We love you.”

“What a beautiful friendship you both share, so full of respect and love. Please take your privacy, feel wrapped with love on this rough day for you, Rog and John. Freddie will always stay in our hearts,” another person added.

The Queen frontman Freddie died from Aids-related complications in 1991 at the age of 45.

Today, (November 24) marks the 32nd anniversary of the singer’s death.

The writer and performer of much-loved anthems including We Are The Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody revealed he was HIV positive the day before his death.

Veteran rocker, Brian, who was a founding member of British rock band Queen, admitted this day is most difficult for him.
