Caitlyn Jenner reveals she had ‘no idea what was in the bank’ during her marriage with Kris as she hosts Q and A for House of Kardashian documentary
Caitlyn Jenner has admitted she had ‘no idea what was in the bank’ during her marriage with Kris.
The television personality, 73, is interviewed in Sky’s three part documentary House Of Kardashian, set to air on Sunday, which explores family dynamics, scandals, controversial business deals and personal struggles.
To celebrate the show launch, Caitlyn hosted an In Conversation with event in London on Wednesday evening where she shared an insight into the family’s inner workings.
Caitlyn says in the documentary, according to The Sun: ‘Kris started with absolutely nothing, and today she has a multibillion-dollar business. She built the dynasty.
‘Kris liked being in control of everything, as in the celebrity world everybody tries to control their own narrative, and Kris knew how to play the game. In fact, nobody has done it better than she has.’

Looking back: Before her transition, back when she was known as Bruce, Caitlyn spent 24 years married to Kris Jenner; the couple are pictured in 1991
Upon tying the knot with Kris in 1991, Caitlyn became the stepfather of her children whom she welcomed with late attorney, Robert Kardashian: Kourtney, 44, Kim, 42, Khloe, and also Rob, 36. Robert passed away in 2003 after a battle with esophageal cancer.
Caitlyn says when she first met Kris, as Bruce Jenner, they needed to something to propel their careers and so her agent was quickly sacked.
She says: ‘I wasn’t broke, but it’s not like I had millions of dollars in the bank, and Kris was the same, her work was the house and the kids. She struggled, so we needed to do something quickly.’
They saw success with Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The reality show was the brainchild of Kris and TV host and producer Ryan Seacrest, and followed the lives of Kris’ family, which included Caitlyn – then Bruce – along with their children.
The television personality says Kim always wanted to be famous and was ‘calculated’, but it was Kris who was the mastermind.
As their success grew, so did their wealth. But Caitlyn claims she didn’t have any control over their finances.
‘I had no idea what was in the bank. I always had a couple of little toys, a nice car or a small aeroplane, so the relationship worked very well that way,’ she says.
Throughout the course of Caitlyn and Kris’ marriage, they also welcomed daughters Kendall, 27, and Kylie, 25. However, the former couple finalised their divorce in 2015, the same year Jenner came out as transgender.
Caitlyn was a regular on Keeping Up With The Kardashians from it’s very first season, which premiered on E! in October 2007, until 2015.
During the reality show, viewers bore witness to the end of her 22-year marriage to Kris, as well as her brave decision to come out as transgender.
